Default Just finished my first DE shave...

My EJ89 came in the mail and I have just completed my first shave and I loved it! I've got a little irritation on my neck but that might have to do with my excitement and not being able to stop after one pass. I fully enjoyed the whole process...for the last few weeks I have been lathering with a brush and soap or cream but still using my fusion, and it always felt like it was lacking because I did not have my DE razor yet. Today it felt complete and I am pumped! I can't wait for my next shave!

Thanks to all of you for all the help and advice!

    -Frank

    Welcome to Badger & Blade!

I've been at this almost 3 months, and it has revolutionized my shaving -- and made for extremely pleasant mornings.

It will only get better from here.

    Enjoy.

Well, if you just finished your first DE shave and did not loose so much blood you can not post, then you did well (ask me how I know). And since I like to stimulate the economy:

Frank it sounds like you've discovered why we really have a passion for this former daily chore. The "I can't wait to shave" feeling is right in the wheelhouse of the discovery aspect of this whole traditional wet shaving endeavor. Enjoy! And welcome to B&B!

Welcome to B&B Frank! I'm sure you will find shaving enjoyable again...just leave lots of time to do it right. And you're right...you start actually looking forward to shaving which I thought was unheard of just a few months ago!

    Hello Frank, Welcome to B&B!

Good to know your initial experience with classic shaving is such a pleasant one. Keep enjoying your shaves.

Second shave a success! Well it was successful in that I enjoyed, no cuts, and a DFS for most of my face. I had trouble with my neck again with irritation. For my job I have to be clean shaven everyday so unfortunately I don't have the luxury of letting my neck heal between shaves over a few days, so I will look forward to the weekend and keep dousing my face with witch hazel until then. I love the sound I hear when I find the right angle and the razor just glides...intoxicating!

This is my second post. So I'll do what every newbie does and start a flame war.

I went DE about a year ago (from a Braun electric) and loved it. Started with a Merkur Futur, decided it looked too futuristic, switched to an EJ Chatsworth, beautiful instrument. But I dropped it while changing blades and the threaded end landed directly on my tile floor, bending the threads out of round, couldn't get it back together, went on line and order a new one and then ran down to the local store to get a temporary cheese grater to tide me over till the DE replacement came, cussing all the way. Bought a Mach III because it had the fewest blades. And I'll be damed. I did my usual wet shaving routine, soap, brush, aftershave lotion and . . . I got a great shave. Which got me thinking. But I still went back to the DE when the Edwin Jagger arrived. It really was better for getting around my nose. But I was haunted by the memory of the really good Mach III shave. So what the heck, I bought a Fusion Proglide. Only $10 bucks. Worth a try. Right?

To make a long story short. I've sold my Edwin Jagger DE on flea bay, bought an EJ Chatsworth Fusion handle to match my brush and have not looked back. I'm getting the best shaves of my life.

I tried DE for a year. Used the best products. Read all the forum advice. But it didn't work any miracles for me. I am now getting much better shaves by using quality products and two passes with a fusion. My neck now looks as good as it did when I was using an electric, no more red bumps. Which leads me to suspect that most people who are seeing huge improvements when they go to DE is because at the same time they go DE they also dump the green gel crap and start using quality products and taking their time to shave properly.

I'll go head to head with any DE shaver out there, and we'll let Jennifer Love Hewitt be the judge after a 30 minute make out session. May the best man win.
