Default Tabac, does it get any better than this?

I just finished up a puck of vintage Williams and started a puck of Tabac. Tabac is noticeably more slick, builds thicker creamier lather, and is more protective.
I have very limited experience with shave soaps.
My question? Do shave soaps get any better than Tabac? Not scent, but performance.

Though ive only been experimenting with soaps for a little over a year i have found that when returning to soaps that i bought early on but cast aside as being hard to get a decent lather from seem miraculously easier to lather now. I can only assume my lathering technique has improved, though i have a much better brush than i started out with. Tabac is reputedly very easy to lather but of course plenty of people get great results with supposedly hard to lather soaps. So it's hard to tell where lies the boundary between soap performance and lathering technique.

Tabac is very good, but once you figure it out, MWF is hard to beat!

Cella and Mitchell's Wool Fat are top tier as well.

Depends on your lathering technique, your personal preferences, your water hardness, and sometimes I think the phase of the moon is involved.

In other words, YMMV, but Tabac is acknowledged by most to be a solid performer, although a lot of very experienced folks around here have opined that some soaps are better.

Tabac is one of my favorite soaps. It's in my top five, along with Cella, King Louis, P160, and AoS.
MWF is also top tier stuff. I recommend that you try all of the soaps listed above starting with Cella and RazoRock King Lois Lavender.

It's hard to answer your questions of: does it get any better than Tabac. Some will tell you absolutely yes that there are better soaps out there. Others love Tabac above all else.
For me, Tabac is a top performer that will always be in my rotation.

Another vote for MWF. It is super-slick, plus when you're done your face feels luxurious. I will also cast a vote for Art of Shaving as a top-tier contender.

Yup, Cella beats Tabac in my book and Irish Moos is godly. Tabac is a great soap, but there are many others that people find to perform as well. Trumpers, MWF Arko, and Provence Sante all do just as well by me, and I like the scent of them much better. The scent definitely puts some people off.

Tabac was the first quality soap I purchased after I started wet-shaving and I was blown away with just how good its performance and scent were. The water coming from my tap is very soft (our town's supply is from a rain water catchment in a nearby mountain range) so generating lather has never been a problem. Following advice and suggestions on B&B I expanded my collection to include MWF, Cella, p160, Irisch Moos, Trumpers of various scents (pre-reformulation tallow + modern palm), TOBS, Valroba (both soft and stick), Institut Karite, vintage Erasmic and quite a few more. I was always searching for something that would exceed Tabac but the only thing I found that (just) out-classed it was vintage Old Spice which hasn't been manufactured for at least 20 years. Sure, Irisch Moos may essentially be the same soap base as Tabac with a different scent, but personally I find the smell of IM to be quite artificial in comparison (it reminds me of the overly-scented "fresh spring" style bath soaps from my childhood in the 1970s).

I don't regret building up a large collection of soaps (it's been fun and the cost hasn't been that high compared to other collecting hobbies) but I never realised when I first started my search for shaving Nirvana that it was already in my shaving cabinet. If I had to choose only one soap currently being manufactured, it would be Tabac.

Tabac is what I judge all other soaps against. It was my first soap and is still my favorite.

TABAC & MWF are 2 anchors that I am never without. I don't care what type of water you have or how lather challenged you may be, TABAC is as close to a "no-fail" soap as it gets. You might think it stinks like Grandma's powder room but it never fails to perform great.

+1 a useable soap with a polarizing scent. Performance is up there, but definitely not in my top 5
