I've always wanted an inch dumbbell but never had the opportunity. Lifting one with one hand is a significant accomplishment @173 lbs. My wife thinks I'm nuts and she's usually right. I'm thinking at least a year of grip training.

I've heard a good way to build up to this is to get a regular dumbbell and keep adding a layer of tape each time you practice lifting with it.

I've been reading about them on the web. Apparently at a lot of weights and exercise trade shows they have them, and you can win $50 if you can lift them. The guy who they are named after could lift it over his head.
Was able to clean a 100# back in 2009 at the Arnold Classic. Was deathly afraid of dropping it on my head but I got it done.
They had a 2 inch one.. No way I was attempting that one.
