    Default EJ 89L VS. Feather

How do they compare as far as mildness? Or the way they shave?

I was not as impressed with the EJ 89 as most others on the board (I like the Muhle version, the R89 substantially better). It is a relatively mild shave. The Feather is similar in terms of aggressiveness, but I found it more forgiving and it gave me less burn (well, almost none). The Feather is also a joy to shave with -- hands down the best built razor I've ever owned.

I've been shaving with the Feather for the past two weeks daily. I had only used the 89 (in my case a Muhle 106) twice when the Feather got here and kicked it out lol.
The Feather has helped me incredibly at keeping the correct angle of the razor throughout the whole shave, if you don't have a correct angle it wont cut period. I then tried the 89 yesterday again, it is a bit more aggressive and really smooth, not as smooth as the Feather. In terms of my experience with both, I would use the Feather as a daily razor and the 89 as my weekend razor... Both are a joy to shave with, both are mild and smooth, the Feather is just in a different league of build quality but I would have to give the best, least-effort shave to the 89. With the Feather I do 5 passes and enjoy them, go ATG and everything, with the 89 I have enough with 3 passes mostly WTG, XTG and XTG again. If I push my shave too hard with the 89 I will harm myself, with the Feather on the other hand, it seems there are no limits as to how many passes you can do for touch ups etc without irritating the skin. Hope that clears it out at least just a bit

I have been using the DE89 with the Bull Mastiff handle from Bob's Razor World and it has been a great shaver for me. Been using it since Christmas morning when I got it. Sadly to say it will be moving on as I now use my '51 SS birth razors exclusively along with a '62 Tech that I picked up for traveling.
The DE89 has great heft, and with adding the Mastiff handle it gave it even more weight so I could let it glide across the face with no pressure at all. It loves Astra SP and Derby blades. It will be sad to see it go but I have a problem hold on to the things I do not use!

I have both. One is nice and functional and the other is a work of Art and the smoothest shave I have ever had. If you haven't guessed the latter in the Feather.
