I bought this razor today for $14. I figured it is a Solingen made blade so it can't be that bad. Any info on the maker? Didn't they have something to do with ERN? My ERN round point has the same sword logo on it.

I can't give you any info on it, but nice find!
Those scales are sweet!

nice blade, i think there may be one on my collection by the same maker. but i'm not for certain. it is a different model i think if i'm correct. no pretty green scales maybe black.
i have an ERN. same logo.
5 out of 4 people have trouble with fractions. :(
Can't remember where I read it but ERNs were sold under several different names. The sword is the same brand. That one will clean up nicely. Very little rust on the gold luckily.

The razor is made by ERN.

Sweet looking Razor Matt, just my style (square poiunt), but the blade looks larger than 11/16, is it 6/8?

If it was an ERN razor - it would say ERN wouldn't it? The logo leads me to believe that it's a Crown & Sword, but I am not sure.

~~~this
~~~this is the kind of razor I like to shave with, unrestored of course, lightly remove the rust using a wheel and some buffing comound, hone and shave...nothing finer than old Solingen 11/16 square points, but the fact that it is an ERN, you know you have a good one

is the edge bent (not straight looking down it like a gun sight) or is that an illusion in the photo? my ERN has a slight bend in it too that makes it impossible to hone properly.
The edge is not bent just the photo. I'll have to measure it Jake but I don't think it's a 6/8 though.
Matt
~~~so many of the square points 'back in the day' were 11/16, but looking at the photo, yours looks a tad longer (spine to edge)
none the less, that's a beautiful razor & looks like it has zero hone wear on the spine...what a find! I know you're gonna love the shaves you'll get from this
As far as my beard goes, I don't really find any benefit to using a straight with a blade larger than a 6/8./ I have some larger, all the way up to an inch, but since I shave daily, and my whiskars are tough, there just aren't enough of them and the length of the whiskar isn't there to command using a 'big blade', now I like shaving with 5/8 too but 11/16 because they are inbetween a 5/8 and a 6/8, just seems to be the right size for me, but I like my 6/8 blades, for sure
FWIW, I shaved with this 11/16 today
you can't beat vintage Solingen blades for shaving comfort (IMNSHO)
I forgot to measure it last night. But I have a 13/16 ERN round point and a Murker square point that are both Solingen blades and they are my favorites.
ERN was sold under about 30+ different names. Sword and crown was only one of them. Nice razor; it should clean up really nice.
