Default Want to buy an aggressive merkur, what to get?

Hi all! Im looking to buy a new saftey razor, a merkur. I really like how they look and seem made. Obviously, the gillettes are all discontinued* Im looking for a smooth close to the skin shave. Done my research and still cant decide. Im looking at the 11c, ( always wanted an open comb type), or the 41 c. I am aware of the slant bar, and reading how aggressive a shave it is, but its not for me. Want to keep it traditional. SO! any recommendations other than the 11c or 41 c? again, im looking to get a really super close shave... whats everyones opinion?
Currently, i am using a 50's style gillette super speed, blue tip i bought few years ago off ebay. i also have a gillette tech with bakelight handle, i got from an IAG military sight..was supposed to be used in Italy by the allies. I find wilkinsons sword blades, and gillette blades, 7 o clock are really aweseome blades too use. Bluebirds, walmart, shoprite, bend easy and dont shave as close. Ive always wanted to try a shaver, like howd they shave with in the 19teens-1930's...like the 11c, an open cob, but get a really aggressive close shave. The merkurs seem msot budget friendly and available..

If you're looking purely at Merkurs, then I would suggest the Slant and the Futur.

I've owned a 12C for a while, and was attracted to it because of the reviews on B&B.

Futur, Progress for adjustables. Slant for fixed head. All nice razors.
    Good luck.

Futur set wide open is VERY aggressive. At the same time you can dial it way down and get a very mild shave out of it on those rare days when you want to keep all the blood on the inside

The 39c Slant is freaking amazing. My favorite razor, period.

Cool replies:) so how would lets say, a 11c compare too a slant, or 41c? in terms of aggressiveness and closest shave?

Slant, not for me? Have you tried it I've shaved a few times and my 37c slant is as good as it gets. I never make a negative post about a product unless I have tried it.

Slant. I have so many other razors, but if I could only keep 1, it would be my 37c. 39c if you want longer handle, more weight.

I have both futur and slant. slant is not as aggressive as futur, it is just smooth. I would go for the slant.

yes i agree it is effective. for example i used futur with a racer blade last night and the blade was very harsh. i tried several settings on the first pass but i could not get a good result. then i switched to the slant on the second pass. Wow what a great feeling of smoothness and effective shave!

The slant (with a Feather) is a close, smooth shave. Recommended.

Don't forget the humble HD. I have a slant, several vintage gillettes, a Muhle 41r and a bunch of Gem SE razors. When I want the best shave with the least amount of fuss I reach for my HD, it is the best of the bunch. (for me)

    +1 on the Futur.

It can be a mild "Tech" or aggressive.
