Default Looking to refine my fragrance palate

Good morning gents, first post on the frag forum for me. I'm looking to get a little more class in my collection. Throughout high school, I was (like most) a wearer of the sports and aquatics. Currently I have Nautica Oceans, Davidoff Adventure and Burberry for Men (aka Burberry London). The Nautica is going out of my rotation as it way too plain. I like the moss, cedar and sandalwood notes of the Burberry, but there is just too much mint up front for my liking now. I like the bergamot and vetiver and cedar notes of the Davidoff, but it just doesnt have enough punch, for lack of a better word. What would frag's would you learned gentlemen suggest I try? My next buy is going to be B&BW Oak, since I think it may have the notes I like in the Burberry, without all the mint. Thanks for your consideration!

    L'Occtaine Vetiver.
If you like cedar, Dirty English is cheap.

I went sniffing the B&BW stuff this past weekend, and all I could smell was alcohol.

i left B&BW unimpressed with their scents.

get a couple small decants of some the stuff in the group buys or places like theperfumedcourt.. it'll be an interesting experience...

My best advice is to mind the weather.
the seasons have changed. Put away the heavier scents like Burberry London and look for something lighter.
its spring, so I recommend something fresh, green and floral.
    Maybe even a little soapy.

I like Prada Ambre pour Homme for the spring (among others )
Don't be too hard on the Nautica, it's not the right time for it yet.
try it again in the summer.

Now get to it! You've got to find the perfect scent for your wedding!!!

    My favorite!

I did not like anything B&BW had either. I thought their signature line, including "Oak" was quite unpleasant. For $30 (the price of Oak), you can order several decants from Archefire.....just an idea.

For the summer, I like Chanel Egoiste Platinum. You could try Centaur by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier, kind of spicy/citrusy.
    Always set a nice table.

If you'd like to venture into the world of niche products, you can't go wrong with many Creeds for the spring/summer. My personal favorites are Millesime Imperial (lovely melon/sea salt are dominant), Green Irish Tweed (iris/violet/sandalwood dominant), and the ever popular with the ladies Aventus (pineapple/smokiness). These can be had for considerable discounts on sites like fragrancenet or walgreens (US). Other options are participating in a split, where somebody buys a large volume at a discount and divides it up for often 1/2 the cost. Of course, best to try before you buy through luckyscent or theperfumedcourt.

Also fantastic for this time of year is Aqua di Parma - Colonia and Assoluta being my favorites.

    So many other options...sample tonnes!

Thanks for the advice, Marc! I'm placing an order with Archerfire for some decants of Mugler Cologne, GB Bowling Green, Guerlain Vetiver and Eau Sauvage. Here's to trying new things!

Got my decants from Randy and I'm liking trying new things.

Mugler: I like the clean soapy scent and its got a touch of fresh cut grass, very spring-like
Bowling Green: Smells like something my dad used to wear (but in a good way) manly and spring-like at the same time
Eau Sauvage: Very citrusy, definitely something new for me, I like it
Guerlain Vetiver: Strong, almost overpowering to my nose, something that I think will need to grow on me, not sure if I completely like it,
