Some people will turn the base plate upside down to cover the blade between shaves for storage.
I hadn't thought of that. Every day's a school day!

Okay...OC aficionados... Would a Razorock Bastone be considered aggressive? Like I said, I love the open comb feel but would like something more aggressive than the 1904...how does the RR compare to the R41? Thanks, and where are the goats?

They look like ball end old types. In my opinion the best razor Gillette made.

Ok, I know these guys are beat up but I got them pretty cheap on the bay and thought it would be fun to try an OC, the only problem is I'm having trouble identifying them. Ball end something's lol thanks guys!
no goats for you! Put botoc in your profile signature, and you'll be flooded with goats. You have to ask alex for the onion, though.
Here's your goat sci! Still gotta ask for the onion, though.

Kinda high price $33 dollars for OC Ball End New, it has 2 cracks on it..... always shop at the B&B BST for the best bargains. You could have gotten 2 without any cracked handles from out members at BST.I humbly request membership in the Brotherhood. I got to try a few OC razors out of a passaround box, and fell in love with a Gillette New. So much so, I snagged this beauty off of eBay: http://bit.ly/NdSXAZ
The price seemed reasonable (not a deal, from what I could see, but I don't think I overpaid, either). I really can't wait to get my hands on it!
Now that is one lovely goat!
I just ordered an R41 from Connaught....I went with my gut, and they seemed to have a good price.
Alex...did I mention how much I like onions?
Thank you so much. When I get them in I will check the serial numbers and find out for sure! Hopefully pre-war razors for $9 including shipping! Rough shape though which is why most people stayed away but the combs are there and only 2 of the outside ones on one razor look bent from what I see and those look like they can be bent back VERY carefully.
5th Shave with my 1st OC today and I still love it. Made a bad choice in blades (Super Max Titanium) that I have never tried before. Felt a lot like shaving with a shovel. Going to pop in a Feather tomorrow and see what love I get there. I picked up a nice Tuckaway razor and can't wait to give her a go.
http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/Double-Edged_Safety_Razors_Ranked_by_Blade_GapThat's a good question. It would be helpful to newbies like myself for those who know more about the different open combs that one may run across to contribute to a comparison chart. Having said that, maybe such a chart exists, if so please forgive me lack of search skills.
For example from my experience and hearing from others I would guess the following would be a good example:
