Very nice...I posted a similar find a couple of weeks ago (complete with the same 'crack')..looks like the same razor, different case.
You should add the serial number and info to this thread which is collecting data on these older Canadian razors

    * Mike, i really enjoy the Super Iridiums. They work in all my razors and they are very smooth.

I got married on the 4th and things have been a blur, but I have been faithful to my Tradere OC razor. I have been using my Tradere non-stop since I got the first week of July. I only shave 3-4 times a week, but I have at least 20 shaves in with it. I am sorry to report that it just isn't going the right way.

I have tried 4 different blades and only soft goods that I know work. It has been burning my face up. I am really bummed out because the Tradere is SO awesome. There is hope as they have a new straight bar model coming up but I feel a little like a failure.

When I first joined the site, I jumped into straights after about a month DE's and pretty much failed at that too. I think I am a lazy shaver.

I still have my straights and will eventually give them the attention they deserve again.....some day. But I found the maintenance and learning curve to be a bit much for my taste. After using my Muhle R89 for the first month of my
"pro" shaving career and finding glorious success, it has been hard to give that up for anything.

When I use the Tradere I feel like I am walking on egg shells and when I use a straight I fell like I am walking on hot coals just asking for disaster.

There is a glimmer of hope for my OC career though. I have a Gillette NEW in the stable that I tried once and was good. The Gillette gets how ever many shaves it takes for the Tradere SB model to land on my door step.
    * Ryan, i had the same issue with the Tradere. There are many razors out there and not all are for everyone. Enjoy the NEW and good luck with the SB Tradere. By the way, have you tried the open-comb Aristocrats? Great shavers!
    Laughter, love and shaving!

Had my first shave with Gillette 7'O'Clock Black blade in a Gillette NEW yesterday. It felt almost like there is no blade - it was that smooth and sharp. There was some razor burn but that's probably because of less than great lather and also because I haven't shaved with the NEW for some time (was using OCMM more recently).
I could really love those blades... if they weren't so hard to find and expensive.

Wow! Had my OC cherry popped this morning by my newly acquired Gillette Old Type Ball End. Picked up at an antique store and cleaned it up yesterday. Dropped a fresh Feather blade in it today and said a little prayer to the OC gods befor starting a WTG pass. Followed up with a XTG pass and then an ATG pass, which was much smoother than I would have ever guessed with such an old and reportedly more aggressive razor than I'm used to (Feather AS-D1, Weber DLC, and Fatboy @ 3 are my usual).

A little bit of cleanup and with a BSS, I went to my Alum bar bracing myself. Huh? Where's the impending sting? Just a little tingle! Crazy! Even my alcohol AS splash didn't burn. What is this madness!? How does this thing shave better than my $180 Feather and $70 Weber? What dark magiks are at work here?

Consider me an applicant for the Brotherhood.

The shave with a Single Ring and Astra SP went okay - it's definitely more aggressive than the Sheraton or the Merkur 41C. I was sure to align the blade properly before shaving. The ATG pass chewed me up a little bit around the chin. I'll try a smoother blade for the next shave and see how it performs.

Hopefully a different blade works - I like the feel of the razor but I know I've had problems with those that have more blade exposure.

Dr. Dulcamara: I quite like your artful photographs--they have such a sense of mindfulness about them. I know the quality is created and that it doesn't come about without a sense of mindfulness toward one's work. Kudos are in order and deservedly yours, sir.

bastimret: The one Gillette Old type I had tried I really liked--I bought it as a gift for my brother--he loves it. I've been looking for another one for myself. It's a bit more aggressive than Merkur's #41, the next step to an even closer shave than the 41 is capable of delivering. The Gillette Old is a grand OC razor--enjoy it!

It's not my fault, it's James' blame him
