After such an outstanding shave yesterday with the Gillette India produced Wilkinson Sword in the Tech I wanted to test it with another mild razor, so into the 1904 OC it went.
After a month of testing blades I feel pretty comfortable in knowing what I like, and what I do not. My top five blades in order have been the Polsilver SI, SuperMax Super Platinums, Gillette 7 O'Clock Blacks, Feathers, and Lord Platinum Plus.
These India produced Wilkinson's are every bit as good as the Gillette Blacks (made in the same factory), and I dare say, for my beard type they very well may over take the number one position.
They are nothing like the German made Wilkinson Swords that you can find at Walmart, these are much smoother and sharper.
All three passes where efffortless and smooth. Zero tugging or skipping, no nicks, cuts or weepers, no irritation. With a few light touch-ups to my probelms areas I have a true BBS.
This goes to show that a mild razor paired with a good blade can provide as close of a shave as a far more aggressive razor without the irritation or raw feeling afterwards. I just love this combo, and will be using it again very soon.

R41 Redux--day two
I was going to wait until Sunday for shave two--but... you know how it goes.
I through caution to the wind today and decided to use the R41 again. I loaded an Astra SPP blade and found the shave much more agreeable. The shave wasn't as harsh as with the Persona Med Prep that I used yesterday. Tried several angles and found one that felt good. Still a bit tricky around my upper lip and chin--this would take more feeling out these areas. Nonetheless, I did get a more comfortable shave, I'm not sure it's a razor I could use every day. I may shave with it tomorrow--after which I'll clean it and return this loaner. Will I get one? I'm still uncertain, but I do feel that this is an interesting razor but one that I may not be able to come to terms with using.Time to hit the quarter-mile oval for a quick three miles.
Azarius: I've got to agree with about the Merkur 1904 OC, it's very smooth. Where do you buy your Gillette India made Wilkinson blades? I may have to try them. We seem to like the same razors and blades. I'm still really enjoying the PolSilver SIs--this morning I used an Astra in the R41, but after going to the track I can feel a serious 'sting' from the R41, post-shave. Time to return the R41 and move on. I think the best tact for me is to return to milder OCs and my time-honored Tech, not to forget my Progress (500), it, too, is a fine razor. The Fatip is about as aggressive a razor as I ever want to use. use.

No problem brother. I think the whole B&B is a "brotherhood," as much as it can be in cyberspace. This BOTOC is a strong subgroup attested by the number of posts...and Ken's and Alex's winning ways. :)
I like most all razors and lean towards SE razors, so I don't feel so much at home here. But I wouldn't hesitate to post a question on here...why not? You guys know your OCs.

Jeff: I laughed so much when I read FNG--haven't heard that term in decades! I remember the guys we called Fangs (FNGs), the last two words were National Guard. Back then FNGs served only six months in and went home--these days it's quite different for the National Guard, and they have my respect and 'Thank you' for their service. Indeed, F'in New Guys pretty much got the full three words to remind them just how new there were. I think the term Jeep was pretty much for guys serving overseas in non-combat areas; combat zones had Cherries. You brought back a lot of memories, Jeff. Thanks, brother. I have to say, I agree with you about the entire B&B site.

Alex, indeed, today's National Guard is a different force from way back. They do their share and more. These men and women deserve our acknowledgement and admiration for their sacrifices. I meant in no way to disparage the contributions made by the Guard we've come to know following the 1960s. The men and women in the Guard have served two, three tours, and four tours in combat zones. You'd be hard pressed to find a veteran who would not acknowledge the contributions of these men and women.

Certainly. It is a great loss. Rafael appreciates his work with great respect. It would have been spectacular to see how the two had competed to delight us with each one more delicious handles. I could get this handle by a friend, and I will not ever let go of it.
Kind Regards, Dr Dulcamara.
BOTOC humble brother.
