Welcome to our humble and eccentric club; no official document required as Ken will accept your simple request that you have posted. i hope you enjoy your stay and the only requirement is a pick or two of your open-combs. Have a great day.

Gillette ABC Old Style Open Comb--how sweet is this?

April, I didn't know that you were recovering from surgery (I assume). I wish you a complete recovery. I'm sure that buying another razor or two might help! It's worth a go.

I hear that open combs provide better lumbar support than safety bars.

Your entire spinal column is an open comb. Think how stiff your back would be if it were a safety bar!

You guys have got it! Sounds good to me. Ever thought of going into orthopedics at The Gillette Institute of Orthopedics and Tractor-Trailer Driver Training?
Yes, you too can become an orthopedist with our four-month home-study course. Sign on the dotted line.............................................. ...................................
That's it--I'm getting a lab coat or a wallet with a chain on it.

Which just goes to show how us BOTOC-ers have gotten it right. Nature shows us that Open Comb is better. :)

All of you are just too funny! Nice to have a few more members with senses of humor! no, no surgery . For now it is just taking it easy and taking the little pills that make my head all fuzzy until I heal
Just a bad fall landing on my spine compressed fracture of my L-1 Vertebrae. LOL I am glad it is not a safety bar! I will be up and dancing and back to my old silly self in no time! 4-6 months PFFFFT

^ Take it easy, heal, and don't hesitate to go running (or walking) for the shelter of 'mother's little helpers'. They are there to help relax
your muscles. Now, should you have any epiphanies along the way, do share. There's nothing quite like a good fuzzy-head-induced epiphany.

Seriously, take care of yourself, April.

LOL Yes that is what I call them too! But I am taking it easy I have pain meds for when I need them and muscle relaxers for at night. I am being careful though, I do not want to become dependent on them.
I am in the middle of a diet and exercise program so this kinda threw a wrench in that! But I am walking every day and doing exercises that will not put strain on my back. Even with my injury I will reach my goal by the end of the year or maybe even sooner!
Epiphanies LOL I have had several but nothing I can really share on here LOL Lets just say fuzzy eyes can make you see things clearer sometimes! Love that model! That is a fine example!
Thank you Roger for making me laugh!

I just grabbed my DE89 and my Old Type and tried to make it work. The threads don't seem to match up exactly. I believe the DE89 hole is larger. It feels like the difference between metric and standard measurments: you can make that metric bolt and that standard nut go together but it's just not right.

The EJ handle would thread all the way down if I got it started on the right thread of the Gillette head, but I definitely wouldn't shave with it. Damaging both of my razors and my face don't seem like fun evening activities.

My combo threads fine. The EJ is a larger thread and it would not do.
