That brings up a good point. All of you involved in the Darwin pass around, feel free to mix it up however you want with your shaves during the couple of weeks you each have with it. My main intent with the pass around was to get some feed back on it's shaving abilities from people that weren't so emotionally invested in it as a typical Darwin owner probably is. I certainly don't want you to feel "a slave to it's shave" while you have it.

I Think with a week or so using it three or four times in a row wouldnt lose its spice, specially since its a once in a lifetime, or less, chance.

so far ite been interesting seeing what James, and Ken had to say about it, will be more interesting to see if anyone has a complete Ymmv 360 on the razor though, wonder what the TechHead, guys would make of such a shaver lol

Now that is commitment, but I understand completely. Once the blind blade test is over and the blades are revealed I will be testing each blade in my favorite razors to see how they perform.

I have been keeping very detailed notes on what I liked and what I have not. A few of the blades I have stopped using after two shaves, a few could have been pushed much further.

4 months + 4 months with an interval in between. It took a little more than 8 months overall to test the blades with everything being the same.

Silly question - anyone have an empty vintage OS mug around and can weigh it in grams? I have a stick of Arko in mine that won't come out. Trying to determine how much Arko is left in mine.

Mine is the mug with the Grand Turk, if it matters.

The original Hull mugs were produced by the A. E. Hull Pottery Company, Crooksville, Ohio, from 1938 until 1944. They bore the Ship Grand Turk opposite the handle. The bottom bears the incised trademark: "EARLY AMERICAN" in a top arc, "SHULTON" at the bottom and "Old Spice Shaving Soap USA" in the center.
Dimensions: 3.0" high X 4.75" rim to handle. These mugs held 5.5 ounces ofsopa.

I don't think mine's that vintage. It's one from the 60's - SHULTON and OLD SPICE on the bottom.

I managed to pry the puck of Arko out and determined that the mug weighs 282g. What concerns me more is that I have an 82g puck of Arko in it, and I don't think I put more than one stick in the mug. This means I either have the magic cultivating stick of Arko, or it takes on water weight, or I put in two sticks and didn't remember that I did so.

ok, you have this one then. This one has the words "Old Spice" in red opposite the handle, and a ship (an unnamed Ship Friendship) on each side. This mug comes in cream color and a pure white. Bottom is marked Old Spice and Shulton with a number that is the mold mark used by Wheaton Glass in the mug manufacturing.

    Default Latest acquisition...

Hello, My name is Ollie and I am addicted to razors (particularly OC's)....

I am four months into this hobby(err... obsession) and acquired DEs number 18,19 and 20 today. OC number eight is below. I am really happy about this one... A cased 1937 Sheraton. My father's birth year. He is still with us which makes me very happy and lucky. However, he won't ever use it as he has been all electric since before I can remember and certainly doesn't understand my fascination with DEs. I will use it and it makes me happy to make good use of this marvelous piece of American ingenuity.
