Thank you for asking..looks like I have 4-6 months of recovery , but it could always be worse. I am not going to complain

Well I tried my new FaTip for the third time this morning and got a two pass DFS. I put a Tradere handle on it and that really seemed to improve it's performance. Many on this thread seem to have had that same experience. The FaTip is going to be a favorite.

I used La Toja cream face lathered with a Semogue SOC 2 Band badger followed by Musgo Real AB.

Very nice Rolls :) I have one myself it may be the same year even! You probably can find one for parts and make it all minty again!

So I asked a friend of mine who is in his early 80's if he had any old Gillette DE's laying around or knew somebody who did and would be willing to sell them to me for my " collection ". I am not a display type collector of anything. I currently shave daily with my 1930 Gillette New OC. Anyway I asked my friend and last night at a meeting he put this at my station:

I am still stunned! What a wonderful gift. All I know about it right now is it is a Rolls Razor Made in England. I do not know the year. This thing is mint!! I told him I will learn to shave with it. The problem I have at the moment is the blade will not fit snuggly into the handle. Apparently the part of the handle that screws up and holds the blade in has worn beyond proper operation. I could cut the handle so the rod protrudes higher into the receiver, but the thought makes me cringe.

I just ordered one of Weber's redesigned Classic handles. It looks pretty sweet. Their web site said it weighs 2.4oz which puts it at about 68 grams. I just weighed the Classic handle on my Arc razor and it weighs 58 grams. So the new Classic handle has a higher polish and greater weight than their original classic handle.

Arley, if you'd like to try the new Classic handle on your Fatip, I can send it your way when it gets here to check it out. I ordered it because I actually like the balance and length of the Classic over that of the Bulldog. For that matter, I can send the DLC Bulldog Weber along with it if your interested in trying the Weber out in general. That would give you a chance to check out the Bulldog handle also.

I find the Webers to be a really nice, efficient razor. They have more the look and feel of a serious tool than the more typical bling that most razors have. That may be part of their appeal for me. I spent 28 years as a repair tech. and I have a soft spot for good tools.

I am participating in a Blind Blade Test on another forum, but would love to try it out once I am finished.

So does the R41 count as an open comb? I love mine, and if it is, I want to join the brotherhood now that I am shaving irritation free with an R41 with feathers and a weber bulldog handle (soon to try a UFO). It is my daily shave. I'm ready to commit.

Yes, under section 123, chapter 456, and page 789....it stated that the r41 is a modern hybrid ( Closed comb razor) which counts under the new entries allowed by the Ole mighty one, King of BOTOC (KEN)....sooo yes its allowed.

I think you better do some shaves with your favorite razors too before you check out the Weber shave. After so much time with that slim almost anything might seem heavenly just because it's different..

Hope you recover OK from that April, I did something similar back in my army days, took a while but eventually I recovered with no long term issues.

Thanks so much Celestino for giving me the fortune to purchase a BRW Bull Mastiff Deluxe Handle (with a Merkur 1904 OC head) from you. I always wanted to purchase this very same handle but CooncatBob (Bob) from Bob's Razor Works passed away last May. Bob may you RIP. My afternoon shave was very meaningful as I paired my treasured BRW Bull Mastiff with a FaTip. My face shave was EPIC.

I'm back! Had to go on a long mission :( Good, and bad news....The wifey has NOT send out my FaTip yet. However, that gave the Gillette NEW long comb time to arrive, and now she is shipping them both out tomorrow! Woohoo!

Good to see you're back safe. It can't be said enough - thank you for your service. I think you'll be loving both of those. I've used my long comb NEW for the last few days while a on a trip, and it was such a nice shave!

at least the slim is a nice razor but using one would drive me nuts, did you have a thread on your blade test yet ? or were you waiting till you were all done to post it up ? i thought i read one but between here there loser and both, sometimes its hard to remember where i read up on it lmao

Well at least some one is understanding what the long term testing does to your enjoyment factor! I used the same everything for two 4 months stints to accomplish my testing and it gets to be a bummer for sure when you want to use something else! Hang in there in there on the testing!
