Doc, can you do a metal test, take it to jeweler and they can tell you what it is.

Thanks! I'll try warm water as well. I did scrubbing bubbles for a few minutes but didn't do anything
So maybe warm water will since scrubbing bubbles + toothbrush didn't do much or I gotta get one of those pipecleaners to "floss em out"

Posting a pic or two of my LC NEW for y'all's viewing pleasure. Seems like most people's NEWs have a lot of plate loss; mine is pretty well intact and shiny gold all around.

Had a major malfunction this morning got out of bed a little late (1st mistake) took a hot shower prepped for the shave reached for the Fatip which was right beside the R41 (2nd mistake) since the Fatip needs some pressure applied a good bit of pressure 1 stroke WTG on the neck and WHAMMO face peel. I picked up the R41 by mistake. My new number 1 rule never never never rush the morning shave.

    Bro......SEVERAL mistakes...

if you don't have time for a proper shave...don't rush it.....those are the few times a year The Brotherhood will give you a pass to use a cart....pick up a Astra, sensor or Trac II just for those occasions and traveling. But if you don't have time...don't force it....accidents or a bad shave WILL happen.

second: why are you applying pressure with the Fatip??? The Fatip is the second most aggressive razor I've ever tried....just behind the 2011 R41......the razor doesn't need pressure....just proper angle and blade.

Third....R41 needs ZERO pressure.......let me repeat.....ZERO PRESSURE..........I don't know how you confused them......but back to rulw one.....if running late...or groggy....either skip the shave or cart it for the day!!

    Hope your face is ok...!

Nice razor....a little maas or flitz will bring the shine right up on the handle.. or...pick up a iKon or weber head.....nothing looks sweeter IMO than a Bulldog handle matched to a Old Type head.....

polishing the razors up is half the fun, seeing something going from a gummy mess to something thats shines and is well beyond expectations is almost as good as finding out it shaves great and i got a new one on the way to do just that, with a case to clean up too

Alex, that's like asking me which one is my favorite child! (That's particularly difficult since I don't have children!)

Actually, my favorite brush (as of this week) isn't even in that photo. It's a vintage Butterscotch Kent KS5 that I picked up for a buck at a flea market earlier this year, drilled out the old knot, polished it up, and glued in a new 22mm TGN Finest Badger knot. It feels like it was custom-made for my hand!

As far as razors go, there's still a lot of razors out in the wild that I haven't tried yet, so I'm reserving judgement.
