The Merkur 1904 is in production as far as I know. it's the Fattip I'm wondering about, if you know. I know there was favorable mention of the '04 as someone, Mongo I think, just ordered one. Did you get it yet Mongo?

What do you do with that thing? Rip up those Georgia piney woods?

A little of everything. Dig my pond, remove trees and stumps, bury electric lines on the property.

Had a shave with my short comb Gillette NEW & Bull Mastiff handle from Cooncat Bob. I bought this razor early on and had no business using it in the early stages of DE shaving. I was saving it until I felt I was ready and this thread motivated me to go ahead and use it again.

It gave me a nice two pass shave for a DFS without any nick or cuts. I used Valobra shaving soap, a vintage badger brush and closed it out with cold water and a witch hazel splash ; )

    Not bad!!

Yeah I guess you run out of things to do (re: re-organizing stuff), even though mine is mostly in a drawer (hidden from SWMBO's snide comments!). I often find myself wishing I could shave 2-3x/day to practice more, and to try and get through more of the products Alex sent me a while ago that I'm still just trying to get through!
its called a safety RAZOR because compared to the unguarded/no guard straight razor, it is safer way of shaving. The SAFETY RAZOR is a safer shaving tool due to the blade being guarded by the Comb teeth or safety bar.

Once people knew I was trying to collect them, they all wanted their company hats on my wall so everyone wanted to give me hats all the time. I never had to buy any.

By the way, pipskicks, an OC razor is still a safety razor. It's like an interrupted safety bar, in a way. To me it doesn't seem any more dangerous that a razor with a safety bar. If you tried my LC NEW once you'd understand that it is not to be feared. There is virtually no blade gap at all; the blade rests on the combs. The angle is quite intuitive. It's a smooth shaver.
I think that the Ikon is great razor but too mild for me.
