In all honesty, I like the nickel version I got as it looks like a razor that should be used. If I spent the money on a Joris (it may be worth it) I'd be affraid of dropping/scratching/etc. everytime I used it.

    WHOLLY $h!t!!!!!

The FaTip LIVES UP TO THE HYPE for my face..leaving me with the closest, smoothest, best feeling shave I've had. I did a 2 pass WTG/XTG on my face and 2 pass WTG/ATG on my neck and I was left with a DFS! I didn't push for the 3rd pass BBS simply because I didn't want to push it on the first dance, but I have no doubt it will produce this for me.

The long and the short of this is to tell you all personally THANK YOU as I feel like I'm a perfect example of the spirit of this forum, and thread. I asked you all for help, you graciously provided it and I'm the benefit of much better shaves because of it.

I'm still looking forward to recieving my '11 R41 but at this point I'm confident in knowing I've absolutely found a razor that works best for me and apparently the aggressive types are for me.

Ordered what looked like (to me) a Gillette New with a (cracked) ball end handle. Otherwise it looked in great condition in the pictures. Waiting for it to show up so I can see if i'm part of BOTOC, but I found one thread about it but are there any well written guides on how to fix them? Based on what I read is the best bet to fill it with epoxy, clamp it all together and wipe any excess epoxy off and let it dry overnight?

Johnnie had done an excellent write up on how to repair that can be found here.

Good luck with the repair, and I am sure you will soon be part of BOTOC.

    HOLY COW!

I've done nothing to this since unwrapping it and wiping off a couple of fingerprints/smudges with a microfiber cloth.

There's a couple of slightly darker areas on the handle and a few light scratches on the head. Other than that, and the missing Gillette logo from the inside of the case, it looks to be in perfect condition. Serial number is either B994872 or D994872. As seems to be typical with these early Gillettes, the date stamping is frequently incomplete or imperfect. I'll try to get some close-up shots in good light and see if you guys can make an educated guess as to what it actually is.

I'm going to load it up tomorrow and take it for a shave. I can't wait to give it a try. I think I really made out like a bandit on this beauty!

What a lovely ABC set! My guess is the serial number is B994872 which would date it to 1911. From what I have read, I don't think that the ABC razors were made past 1915 and all of mine are from 1911 or earlier.

I humbly submit my application for membership into the Brotherhood. I have used only open comb style razors for the last few months- NEW (both SC and LC) with the occasional OCMM thrown in. I am now awaiting a Fatip (unsure of nickel or chrome as Bullgoose does not specify) so Wednesday can't get here quickly enough. And I'm certain that I'll explore others as the opportunity arises. But I have purchased my last solid guard bar razor.
