Hey everyone: Lately I have discovered the FaTip razor. I cannot believe that I was blinded and didn't see the Fatip razor. This forum has soooooo much info that I cannot keep up with all the discussions and topics. So far, I have been researching this Fatip and there is a site on the bay in the UK (Mcguire's Barber Shop) that sells it for a decent price.
I know that there is the FaTip Grande (polished chrome or polished nickel) and the FaTip Piccolo (polished chrome or polished nickel). I wanted 2 know your thoughts on these beautiful OC razors and how they compare to other OC razors. Also... which finish do U like best and why (polished chrome or polished nickel).
Thanks so much in advance for your inputs. Take care all and hope all is well with U & your families.

I have 2 Grandes(chrome & nickel)and the Piccolo.I was under the impression that the Piccolo was nickel only, but I could be wrong. However I think the quality control on the nickel is better than on the chrome version.I couldn't get the chrome head to work with a Tradere handle, but both versions of the nickel worked just fine.I think someone else had a problem with the chrome working with a iKon handle. The Piccolo tho smaller is the heavier of the 2 versions, the handle is solid,I like this version a lil better for headshaves. The chrome and the nickel Grandes shave great as well.Just be aware that if you get the chrome you may have a problem if you want to use a different handle.

Until Maguires started selling them recently, they've been almost impossible to get outside of Italy, so it's not surprising you haven't seen them before.Hey everyone: Lately I have discovered the FaTip razor. I cannot believe that I was blinded and didn't see the Fatip razor.
I have two of the Grande model (in different colours, so I can use them for my blade tests) and a Piccolo, and I think they're excellent - amongst the best razors I've ever used.

The Fatip screw post is narrower than the standard Gillette/etc one, and it seems to be just on the critical boundary for compatibility. So I think it's just individual tolerance variation between samples in general rather than any specific difference between the chrome and nickel ones - for example, I have two nickel heads, one of which will fit my EJ and Mühle handles and the other won't.

That's interesting,I thought that maybe it was just the chrome as both the nickel plated Grande and Piccolo fit the Tradere handle but the chrome Grande didn't.I didn't try the nickel plated FaTip's or the chrome Grande with any other handle so it's possible that I would have a problem with a nickel or chrome fitting let's say a iKon handle.

I purchased the nickel-plated piccolo version off e-bay from Maguire's barbershop. Since it came I have shaved with nothing else except for one morning when I didn't have time for a DE shave at all. It's that good.
To me the FaTip is head and shoulders better than my other razors. I use it on its own handle (like this morning) or on the Tradere handle (like most days).
I have never tried the Grande version and I have never seen the chrome finish. I picked the nickel finish because I like the look of nickel better than chrome; I picked the piccolo because I was planing on using the head with a different handle and the piccolo was less expensive. Sometimes I wish I had picked up the Grande, so I could have one more handle option. The piccolo handle is hefty but it is very short and very thin. One of these days I'll probably purchase the Grande, too, just so I have a back-up. All my other razors are lonely and jealous.

Pretty mild, yet very usable. It's the same head as the open-comb 1904, the 15C, the 25C, the barber-pole version (12C?) and the Muhle 2010 R41.
I have to try it with sharper blades. The Astra SP works but it feels a little raw on the face for me. Maybe I need to use a Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellow or something in that sharpness range.
