I got an email from L'Occitane a couple days ago that the CADE shaving cream has been reformulated, anybody had a chance to try the new version?
I love the soap, never tried the cream

The old version of the shaving cream was horrendous. If you started with 2 almonds size of cream you'd be lucky to have enough lather to shave. I imagine this is a reformulation in the right direction for once. Although until the reviews come in it will be hard to say

Perhaps they reformulated it to form lather. That would be great. I use the cream with the soap to make superlather. Works well for adding back the Cade scent, which left the soap after about 3 months.
Hopefully, we will find out if they are producing a product that actually works this time.

At $28, there is no reason to buy this cream given that the soap is EXCEPTIONAL and only $10. I don't care how good the reformulation is, the soap is just so damn good and lasts a long time.
Yeah, most of the reviews on the website were bad after the formulation. I think some of the original formulation reviews were on there, then you could easily see they all went quickly downhill. Though you had some stragglers in there that probably weren't experienced enough to know it was "bad"
The packaging looks the same as far as I can see - I'd be wary of buying this for a while as I'm sure there could be some of the slightly older reformulations out there.

This is good news. The last stuff was awesome in conjunction with the soap as an uberlather, I'm looking forward to see if this holds up on its' own now.
I just picked up a tube of it last week. I liked the smell and how it felt, but I did have issues trying to get a good lather. Even more so on the second pass of the brush. I also didn't like the fact that there wasn't any slick residue left on my face after each pass. I'm very new to the game and the only other cream I used was AoS lemon which I looked forward to getting back to on my next shave.
In my opinion it's a cream you really only buy for the excellent scent. I used to have a tube in the den all the time - combined with the Cade pre-shave oil and the excellent ASB the shave was decent, but the olfactory experience was phenomenal.
It's no Palmolive and certainly no Speick, but it's a luxury product that - to some - may have its value.
I never had success with Cade.
Went by the loccitane store the other day... I asked the girl working there if what they had in stock was the new formulation or the old one. She did not know if it was the old or new, but she was kind enough to give me a sample.
Shaved with it today. At first, I was going to lather it like any other cream. However, when I tried to build a lather there was absolutely NO lather produced. I immediately knew that I had the old formulation.
For what it's worth, I figured out from this experience that the old formulation is just not meant to be lathered. Instead, it's supposed to be a brushless non-foaming cream... You just spread a thin layer on your face and shave. Either way, I didn't have a great experience with the old formulation and I can see why there is so much hate for it. I'm hoping the new formulation will be much better, I don't see how it could get any worse.
