Another vote for Cetaphil®. Gentle. In 2007, my dermatologist reconmended this soap to me for my dry and sensitive skin. I use it in the shower, as a twice daily face wash and I'm totally satisfied with the great results. It's a very "effective cleanser that removes surface bacteria and oils...plus provides [the] skin with unique, dual-action moisturizing and deodorant benefits in a mild, non-soap formulation".

So how often should we be washing our face with soap?

I use Nesti Dante for the face only. It lasts a lot longer (about 6 months twice a day) than if you use it for the body too. It costs about $10 on Amazon. Another option I like, but is much more expensive is Martin d' Candre. I never really understood the marketing of face washes. How they say they use all these special ingredients that you're just going to wash off anyway. Plus they use SLS and preservatives. So I'd rather just use a high quality soap for the face, and hey it works for me rather well I might add so I'll keep doing it.

Never. Soap + your face = bad combo.

A face wash, or treatment bar mentioned in this thread is a better choice. I personally use the Biore scrub. No drying of my face really and helps slough off the old, dead skin cells. I use it about once a week. Sometimes every 2 weeks. Anyone that washes their face with a type of exfoliant needs to remember to moisturize afterwards. Very important.

Another vote for Musgo Glyce. Their bath bar is also excellent. I have also used Whole Foods brands glycerin soaps and they are also good but the scent comes up short of the Musgo.

Yep, I actually just stopped using the Whole Foods soap on my face. What I'm doing right now is just rubbing some shaving soap on my face after my shower everyday and I have noticed my skin doesnt get dry as easily. Will a shaving soap work long term as a face wash treatment instead of buying a face wash?

Jack Black out of a pump - nickle sized pump is great for the whole face. One bottle is $30 and will last you all year.

Ive had good results with this. Nothing fancy - about five bucks at wal-mart. Just a gentle foaming cleanser, that doesnt dry the skin. Only problem I have with it is the bottle leaks really easily if it isnt in the upright position, making it hard to travel with

I just use the Neutrogena stuff, one pump is enough for my face and neck. If I am going to be shaving though I'll use MR GLO if I have any available. Unfortunately my last bit squirted out of my hand into the toilet last week so I gotta order some more now.

Lately I've been using this soap. It's a great facial soap and on sale at "The Body Shop" for $5 instead of $10. The Body Shop has really good products.

I came across this the other day and was intrigued. It's not an exfoliant, but it's a daily face wash. I have used it 2 days in a row and I can vouche that it won't dry out your face. My skin feels very fresh and clean. The cool part is that is comes out in a black charcoal paste and foams white while you wash with it. The paste is smooth and no rough pieces in it.

I question the magnetic claim as charcoal is not a ferrous metal, but I have used a Japanese charcoal face wash before and it was fantastic! I would be willing to give it a shot.
Found it! I tried this Uno! face wash a few years back and it was fantastic. Thanks for the reminder DieselFuel.

When I bought my horn handled brush from Charles at QED, he threw in a bar of QED’s Dead Sea Mud Soap. This full sized bar of soap is still chugging along, since the end of May, and the lovely bride and the tween daughter have asked that I reorder.
