Long time lurker...

...First time poster. I've been wet shaving for a few months now with my EJ DE89 and am still trying to figure out the right blade for me. I am active duty in the USMC and have to shave every day, so I figured I should de-stress and save some money all at once and made the switch. It seems like a great community here and I look forward to lots of trial and error with you all.

With the Jagger you can use just about any blade. I would recommend the Astra SP as a starting point as it is mild, a good blade, and reasonably priced.

Welcome to B&B, and thanks for your service to our great nation from another vet. When I was first in the service, I started shaving with a DE, shaving soap, and brush to de-stress. It was nice to take a little R&R in the head where it was relatively quiet and have some time to shave and think about things. A word of warning however: I asked my mom to send me a cup with some kind of lid for my puck of shaving soap. She sent me a pastel blue baby's "tippy cup" with a teddy bear picture on it. I guess I should have been more specific in my request. You can imagine what it was like pulling that cup out of my kit if there were any other guys around...which was pretty much always. Service men can be critical bastards, can't they? It was a lot of fun as long as I was quick with come-backs, but it got old fast. I finally deep-sixed the baby cup and "borrowed" one from the mess hall to use instead.

Hopefully you're stationed somewhere safe and can continue communications here.

Ah-ha Tickwomp!!!. So that's where you've been hiding all this time (and you lurketh no more), have you now...but that's OK because now you're with us.

Anyway, welcome aboard the B & B (besides being enrolled in the fictional, sacred and utopian Order of Shavedom). Please feel free to come up to the sun deck & 'sit-a-spell' and thank you for dis-engaging you're 'lurking device' (another member comes out from the mist).

Sounds like your off to a great start, and yes,...this Forum has the knowledge, ideas, and alround 'know-how' to assist in your Wet-Shaving experience. In a nut-shell...your 'gonna' love it here.

It's my sage and humble advice to get a Razor Blade Sampler to see what blade would be a good fit (mild, moderate & aggressive, ect...), for your face and Razor plus the Thread entitled Wet Shaving Instructions & Tutorials! maybe of great interest to you and is very informative.

Although, you may not be additted yet (I think I'm holding up fairly well...with a few exceptions), because we all suffer (gladly and are doomed perhaps), from this shaving complusion (and other Acquisition Disorders), because at times..."Resistance is futile".

I use it with Feathers, but I'd suggest you to try a blade sample pack, so that you can find out which one(s) fits best for you.

Welcome aboard! I am also new to the forum and have been using an EJ DE89L for about 6 months. It's a fantastic razor. Grab a pack of sample blades and work your way through them. I found that Astras and Crystals work the best for me (YMMV).
