First off, thanks to Sargon for a good deal on a few of his underutilized razors.
I just acquired a set of Gems: a Micromatic Brass Open Comb,A Chrome Micromatic regular and a Featherweight.
After a bit of perusing the net and youtube for tips I decided to start off with the featherweight as it is said to be a milder shaver. It is an attractive little razor- an off white/ivory plastic handle with a gold head,I loaded it with a Treet blade.
I wet my face several times while I built a lather with Rise gel and a shave soap of unknown provenance. The resultant lather was thin and did not stick around long.I had to reload the brush with soap and relather.I used the Gem with a very light touch ,a different angle from that of the DE's I'm used to.I did three passes wtg,atg and a touch up pass.Short strokes and a lot of rinsing in the sink of cool water. The result was a DFS with very little irritation .
I then jumped in the shower with Cinthol Indian soap .When I got out, a splash of masters Topaz a/s with almost no burn.
I'll keep using this little razor and work my way up to the Micromatic regular and then the open comb.So far a very pleasant ,elegant looking device to use.
