It does not give me a sense of blade flex, like the R41 does.
Thats the nutshell right there......looks like someone has beat the flawed design of the R41. Where is this razor made?

I asked a rep from NYSC that question, but haven't heard back. One of their short-handled razors looks like a Timor, but who knows where Timors originate.

Can anyone shed some light here?

Nothing but in this thread where it was mentioned that the Mariner and the Weber might have the same head design. I found another thread about the Mariner where shoddy build quality was mentioned and yet another where it was mentioned that it is definitely not as aggressive as the R41.

I believe his exact quote is: "Being the owner of 2 r41s I can say it's not the most aggressive razor that I own, but it's up there." At this point, I'm in general agreement. Next, I want to find how high UP is!

Which led me to believe that he feels that the R41 is more aggressive.

Well, I'm ponying up for a Mariner right now. I love this hobby. So much more affordable than biking or shooting.

LOL. I agree for sure. I've done both.

FWIW, the fit and finish on my Mariner leave nothing to be desired. Quite good scores on both.

35 shipped, out the door. The biking hobby is under control with a year old carbon bike and shooting is good now tha it know just to buy more ammo and shoot more as opposed to collecting.

How is the weight comparable to say a R41 and or a Progress 500 (unmodified)?

    These are my 2 favorites.

I'm kind of curious as to what other aggressive razors the OP has compared the Mariner to.

The handle length is identical to the R41 GRANDE, and the weight seems to be the same. The handle on the Mariner is solid, unlike the R41, so its diameter is less. I'll take a picture for tomorrow's Shave #3 Post.

DEs: Merkur 39C, 37C, 12C, Futur and Vision (wide open), Gillette Slim and Fatboy wide open. SEs: MMOC, Gem Junior, other 1912 and 1914s, Ever-Ready Lather catchers. So far, it's my opinion that the R41 is in a class by itself.

    Thanks.

Someday you may want to try the Tuckaway.

I hope it ships fast in time for this weekend. I note that they have a proclamation that their creams are made in the US; not sure about their razors.
