    Here's the verdict:

I used a brand new Dovo 5/8 best quality straight brand new, and professionally honed by Mr. Phil Sanchez from classicedge.ca. (a truly fantastic gentlemen, who puts customers first).
Also used TOBS Sandlewood cream with an Omega boar.

After reading as much as I could about one's first straight shave, I completed 1 pass on both cheeks. Slowly, carefully, and with little pressure, I went about it. I was amazed at how little I felt the blade; it was smooth as silk, yet my 3 day growth melted away. I finished the shave with my DE and carefully dried off the straight.

A very big thanks to everyone who shared their experiences; the info was invaluable for a complete newbie to straights like myself.

Oddly enough as I read the comments posted to this thread, I'm having a hard time finding my shirt, pants, razors, the one strop I have, all my soaps and creams and brushes. As well my organs seem to be missing.?!

Oh well, it was still a great shave.

    Be well gentlemen.

Sounds like a great first shave, congrats! :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xos2MnVxe-c

Thank goodness he didn't notice the shoes were missing yet. I think I might give them back though... smaller than my sister's. Welcome aboard and glad to hear that you survived to come back.

the best way to use the whipped dog special is with a sawing motion no lather really fast........ honest just leave the garage open before hand

the fact i'm dragging a shovel and a body should be irrelevant...

I've had the good fortune to re- read all the responses to this thread. You guys are hilarious.

To answer one member's question. I have no clue what stones were used to make the razor shave ready as it was delivered that way to me.

    Thanks again, everyone..

    Be well.

    …where are my shoes?

I think I saw them dangling from a powerline on my way to work. It was raining pretty fierce, and they are 20 years old, so you probably don't want them back.
Gillette has a cartridge that went 5 weeks? My straight has gone 5 generations!
