I never used the Thai version but I think the Vietnamese Super Thins (from the same Flying Eagle factory in Singapore) were one of the nicest surprises I encountered off late. I have been using more Gillette blades from that factory and I have to say that for me the Chinese Gillettes easily outperform the Russian ones. Which is something I never would have expected before I tried them.

    Talibeard,
I'd have to defer to your knowledge of the other blades you speak of. What Russian blades are they?

(As a side note, I did a first ever third shave with this blade.
I used PTSG soap as reported here: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...a-Shaving-Soap
added three drops of some glycerine and was rewarded with bbs. Love this soap)

Had my first shave with the blade this morning. Got a CCS. I already had a bit of irritation from yesterday's over enthusiastic shave. So, didn't try hard today. But good blades sharp enough and smooth.

The Russian P&G blades I tried are; Gillette Super Silver, Gillette Bleue Extra, green 7 O'Clocks and three types of Astra (Keramik, SP and SS).

Besides the Vietnamese Super Thins I tried from China; Rubie Stainless, Chinese Super Thins, Nacet (for the Malaysian market) and I still have to try their Flying Eagle (carbon steel) blades and the Gillette Super Blue blades.

So far I liked all the Chinese blades and none of the Russian ones; they all irritate the heck out of me which seems typical for the Russians as I never found any other blade that gave that sort of (allergy-like) reaction to my skin.

Where do you get the Chinese blades?

That is the hard part, or the fun part if you will, of getting them; they were all traded with other members. I have no clue who sells them so I can't be of much help there...

Just found this thread and thought it was interesting—hadn't heard of these blades before. For what it's worth, there's a slight mathematical error here: 120 blades for $22 would not come out to 5.4 cents per blade. $22 divided by 120 blades means each blade is sitting at between $0.18 and $0.19 per blade (18-19 cents). That makes these almost twice the price of Astras and about 8-9 cents cheaper than Feathers. They still might be worth it, though—I haven't tried 'em! :)

Go away! Lol! How freaking embarrassing. A BIG thank you for the correction. Accuracy is a must especially when spoken as a fact. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hehe, sorry! I really wasn't intending to embarrass you or anything like that. I just thought it might be helpful for the sake of comparison to know what we're looking at. Sounds like these are still great blades, so like I said, they might still be worth it at that price. Really nice of you to send them out to those guys. I'm tempted to check them out myself just to see! :)

Wow! Thanks again, rxonmymind! I tried the Singapore thins for the first time this afternoon. Now, I'm not an expert with wet-shaving yet. I still haven't mastered my technique and other variables, but I can honestly say that these are now my "best blade" for comparison sake. I achieved a BBS on my cheeks and sides of the neck for the very first time!! I'm still struggling with the upper lip, chin, and the adam's apple, but that's not the blade's fault. I was so accustomed to the bumping and tugging of the Derby blades and the blades I started out wet-shaving with, despite getting barely satisfactory results, that I assumed that was how it went. Not so. There were patches where I honestly wondered whether my blade angle was on since it didn't seem to be cutting, but no, I could hear it. A rinse, and woah, where'd all the beard go?! Turns out my blade angle was just fine, and the blades were dandy too.

Very cool. I'll repeat and see what happens. Meanwhile, I can say that these blades are worth checking out if you have never tried them!

Weird how that happens, I thought sharks were awesome but my beard just tugged a bit. Then I tried sharp blades :)
