Default Where did the 'Badger' in B&B come from?

Just curious as to how this forum got it's name and why the badger was chosen? I feel like I'm missing an important reference as to how the connection between 'badger' and 'blade' were made. Also, does anyone know who started these forums and does the original moderator/owner post? I've enjoyed the information I've picked up from this place in my time here so I wanted to be a little more informed on how it got started and it's origin.

Badger, as in most preferred brushes used by wetshavers are made from badger hair, hence the moniker "Badger and Blade" Kind of catchy, huh?

Badger and blade was originally about men fighting badgers (a creature known for ferocity) with bladed weapons to prove their bravery and masculinity. The founders were great beasts of men with huge, bushy beards who commonly wore armor and horned helmets. Sort of modern day vikings if you will. But, a few years after starting the site the founders ran into some trouble with the animal rights movement. They had to cede control of the site to a group of far less manly men who instead of fighting badgers rubbed them with fancy soaps and then caressed them to their faces. Needless to say, this place is quite different than it was in the hoary days of old. A few of the old timers still come around, but I think that has more to do with not knowing how to get off of the pre-set start page on their AOL than actually wanting to be here.

It simply was a mistake; it should have been Boar and Blade but the creators of this great forum were still in the dark back then...

Shortly after Art III became King, he issued a royal decree ordering his people to congregate. They were to hand in all
their badges and blades, ensuring Art's Kingdom would be a peaceful one. Once the drunken King's right hand man misspelled
badges and wrote in badgers instead, it was all over.

So here we congregate, confused, but with badgers and blades at the ready, in the name of Art, the King.

Little known fact, the Linux Penguin ("Tux") missed becoming the official mascot by the width of a bader hair.

I could have sworn Tony Hancock used the phrase, but what he actually said was "Ah, you can't beat the cold steel and the badger."
