What's new

Darn it..I need some comforting, just lost a bid on Ebay.

It's the thrill of the chase not the capture:closedeye
Sorry ya missed it Alex, but all that money's still in your pocket for another run....

You know for a guy who says he isn't a collector, you sure have "collected" some interesting razors...sorry about this one, although Toggles don't seem to be all that scarce to me. They seem to come up fairly often. Maybe not in quite as great condition but they're out there...

Wow Dude, That Sucks big time, and "Update" Well it did go pretty high if you ask me, Maybe it was meant to be so you can save your Money and buy it cheaper next time around )

When im home and i bid i have my phone right next to me with my maximum in and at 2nd stage of confirm bid screen just incase,

Why would you want NOS if you just shave with them and resell the ones you dont like?

I can see why you and agonizing. What a great addition it would have been to the collection. But, you'll get one! Perhaps a friend here on B&B will give you a lead on one.

Why did you wait so long? Thought you could outmaneuver the sniping programs?

Even if you got your bid in, you still may not have won.

use GIXEN and it will never happen.

You may get outbid, but your highest bid will get in.

+1 - and you don't have to be up at all odd hours of the morning to bid, the biggest benefit for me!

Sorry to hear of your dilemma Alex, I know the feeling all too well especially lately.

Had an interesting experience a couple of nights ago when I hadn't set a snipe. Did my nightly peruse of the watch list to set snipes for the next day and noticed an auction finishing in a couple of minutes with no snipe set - EEEK!

So I logged onto Gixen and set the snipe - to get the message that it was too close to the finish of the auction and it could not be bet - EEEK, EEEK!

Quickly logged onto eBay again and rushed to the auction with about 20 seconds left by now. Finger tapping madly I put in a bid for $87.00 hit the button to bid then again to confirm.

Phew - the page tells me I'm the winning bidder with only seconds to go - hey, what, I didn't mean to do that....

'Your maximum bid: $8,787.00'

Holy-moly Batman - those madly tapping fingers have cause a huge problem, this was not what I meant to happen

The last 10 seconds or so of the auction seemed like an eternity as I watched the price climb as the snipes rolled in. Would I be able to get out of this if it went pear shaped? What if somebody else through in a ridiculous amount just to make sure that they won? Lots of thoughts can happen in 10 seconds.

Proving the point that the final price is set by the runner up I won the auction - for $107. More than I was hoping to pay but it could have been worse.....

There is a moral to this story, just not sure what it is yet.

So worse things COULD happen I suppose Alex - you could have ended up with a $8700 razor like I might have!

Thats right...im ready

Too bad! You will just have to keep looking for my birthday present.
ok

It's going to be OK Alex. Take deep breaths. For every Toggle sold one resurfaces in an abandoned attic.
thanx. im feeling better already.

Maark, is that true life? you got lucky, imagine a rich bidder just bidding for the fun of it....you couldve been in a bind...I used to be in charge of casino security a few years ago in A.C, and many rich players would spend $1.000's dollars on slot machines just to win $100. they did it for fun.

true.....im not me today. just not focused, alot personal problems i have to deal with this past month.

Sorry for your loss I was watching that one, wasnt gonna bid just watching to see if anyone here would win it. I have been having problems with firefox for a while so I switched to google chrome. All is well now but man it was just locking up and not letting me do anything I was afraid that it would do it while I was in the final seconds of a bid.

I didnt know any of this ebay sniping stuff.....

Maybe a thread somewhere by one of you techno geeks to explain it all?
