Default Any information on this straight razor?

    Hello All

I came over this straight razor in an antique shop in Stockholm, Sweden. I am trying to establish the history behind the brand and modell.

I have not found any information on the brand on the web, and all hits on "Eskilstuna" shows straight razors stamped "C.V Hjelestrand" who was a knife maker from Eskilstuna (Region in Sweden). There is no information on "horseshoe" or "Hästsko". As far as i Know, Eskilstuna is known for its production of steel and in one era they were known for some of the best steel in the world, thus making C.V (Carl Victor) Hjelestrand's knifes some of the best on the market. (Correct me if I got my information wrong)

This knife doesn't look old, but if it was of any recent production I would imagine I would have found something on the web about this brand, but so far nothing.

I wonder if anyone on this forum know anything about this straight razor brand/modell?

    Age?
    Value when new?
    Quality? (full/half hollow ground?)
    any other fun fact?

    Thanks

You may want to have this moved to the General Straight Razor Talk forum - it'll get more traffic there than on the Shave Clinic (PM a moderator to move).

You may also want to PM user honed. He knows quite a bit on Swedish blades.

    Nice find!

Looks like a standard Swedish full hollow to me.
The scales, etching & "77" stamp all looks very generic.
Any one of the bigger makers could have made it.
AFAIK there is no forge or maker called "hästsko"
But I have seen a few knives with that logo.
When I come home I can double-check it against some Eskilstuna knives reference books I have.
Best guess is that it's made by someone for some hardware-store or company that used that logo.
It should most probably shave very well.

Made 1940-1950 based on the scales.

Value? maybe 150-200 SEK on a good day
    Can-can scratch patterns!
