    Default Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack

Does anyone have a Maxpedition jumbo versipack bag?

I need a small bag that can double up as my camera bag to hold my Nikon D300 and a couple of prime lenses but with the flexibility to have a few spare pockets to hold pen, notebook etc

Im not into military or outdoorsy stuff in general but like the rugged feel to it and the apparent comfort and balance of it

Welcome views from those that have it or those with other options

If the tactical look works for you, the Maxpedition bags and packs are fantastic quality. I would think they would be a nice option for your intended use.

Thanks camjr- does it look obviously tactical? I was hoping to get it in the black, which I hope is sufficiently discrete to use as an everyday bag out and about in town etc

I have one. I've been using it as my primary bag for work for the last two years. It holds all my gear: notebooks and pens, camera, audio recorder, sunglasses and sunscreen, folding raingear, keys, IDs and personal paperwork, a map and compass--even my iPad and a wireless keyboard. Sometimes my lunch too. There's also a pouch for a big water bottle. Extremely comfortable, extremely durable, easy to clean and maintain. It's a great piece of gear. Not just for the field either. It doesn't have a lot of dangling geegaws on it, and it looks perfectly fine when I'm going to work or heading off to a coffee shop.

The only addition that I'd make is to buy a cell phone pouch that you can add on to the bag. There is an outer pocket that I slide my phone into, but it can be a little hard to fish it out when you're in a hurry. But that's a minor quibble and you can easily add a phone carrier to a number of points on the body of the bag.

I recommend it highly. Mine has had some rough treatment over the last two years and it still looks brand new.

Thanks Nid Hog. That's a real vote of confidence and I'm tickled by the expression "dangling geegaws" which I must use!

I don't have the Jumbo but I do have the Fatboy Versipack, a smaller version, for nearly four years now. It doesn't get a lot of use. The only complaint that I have is that the adjustment buckle for adjusting the length of the the shoulder strap is not in the best place. It impedes the movement of the shoulder pad. Other than that, I've had no problems with the bag whatsoever.

James thanks. Are you not using t too much because it looks obviously "tactical" or just because it doesn't do the business?

I've just found that it's easier to just stuff the pockets of my jacket with stuff than to carry the Versipack around.

I have the jumbo and love it. It's amazing what you can put in that thing. Optics planet has a wholesale website sort of like the clymb that you have to join caked Dvor. They put Max on sale all the time through Dvor which allows you to get max gear cheaper then any wear I have seen. When the Max gets listed it goes fast so you better he ready to grab what you want fast and put it in your cart so you get it. They also have a feature telling you when certain products will be up for sale so you know when to be ready. They put maxp into a category by itself but if you see any type of pack or sling sale they usually have the max bags as well.
