    Default New Scents for a noob

    Wasn't sure whether if this post was allowed in the soap forum, since I wasn't posting about a specific soap. Anyways, I was just trying to get a feel for the different scents you guys use for seasonal smells. Some of your favorites for spring, spring/summer, fall, fall/winter. I was thinking the citrus and menthol for spring and summer. Having a hard time with all of the names to determine specific scents if they don't have a description, IE Dr. Harris Arlington/Marlboro.

    So what are your favorite scents during the different seasons, or do you just pick what you like year round?

    dan;

    Welcome Sir, I like your "handle". I'm fairly new here myself, although I've been wet shaving for 50 some odd years. When I first started shaving, I used a SE GEM w/GEM blades, and a can of Palmolive Menthol. That fragrance has always been one of favorites [nostalgic] I suppose. I like it in the Summer time. I also used to use some pucks I bought from my local barber shop, IIRC about $2.50 or so. Those were the day's my friend. It had a clean, fresh scent that I've always liked, and I would use it anytime of the year. These pucks came in a paper wrapped roll, 8 or 10 to a sleeve. They had "Tonsorial" embossed into the top. Then, I also use to buy pucks from Old Spice, which I liked to use in the Fall and Winter. Too bad they are no longer with us. I used Williams, it was similiar to the pucks from the barber shop, until I found some Col. Conks, which I like the Almond scent, at anytime of the year. I just started using Proraso Cream with the Eucalyptus/Menthol scent I really like. I believe it will be one of my all time favorites. The Cella has a faint Almond scent, somewhat like, but different than the Col. Conk's. I haven't used it yet, but will ASAP.

    Sorry, this is the best I can do for you. Some more members will be chiming in soon.

    The best to you Sir.
    Regards. Stan

    Experience with smelling different scents will help you learn. But for example, something like DR Harris Arlington, which has an herbal/citrus scent, is best for warm weather. And something like Marlborough, which has a heavier scent, would suit cool weather best. But it's really all about experimenting and finding what you like.
