I just tried my first soap bar (Mystic Water). I love it; I'm a convert; will never go back to the bottled stuff. And just like the others said: watch the eyes!

I am pleasantly surprised every morning at how much lather I get out of my QCS shampoo bar. I counted the seconds I "loaded up" my hair from the bar this morning, and in under 5 seconds, I had more than enough thick lather going for my somewhat-short hair. I like the QCS bar so much, I just ordered one of each "flavour"!![]()

Any shampoo bar recommendations for fine short hair?
shampoo bar update. tried JR Ligetts for a week and felt like it was okay. I recognized the adjustment period but just didn't like how it made my hair feel, soft on top layer but dry and coarse near the scalp. Switched to mystic water and have been on that for 2 weeks now with better results. waiting for the hair to grown longer to see if its worth keeping, as i still feel sort of dry at the base. wife likes it though and doesn't think the hair feels dry, so it may all be part of the adjustment. i wont be going back to my american crew or any other sulfate shampoos for sure. so i may test out KMF or woodys liquid shampoos as a comparison.
My wife and I have been using shampoo bars for several months, after we discovered them here on B&B. I've only used Chagrin Valley. My personal favorite is the Mud & Clay scent. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other offerings from QCS and Mystic Waters in the future. My experience has been great. I've never done the vinegar rinse. If you're reluctant to do vinegar, my understanding is that you can just use conditioner. I rarely use conditioner, unless my hair feels weird from something like, say, swimming. I used some standard shampoo & conditioner while at my in-laws after months on the bar and got a pretty intense tingling feeling. I can't remember the brand. Now I make sure to always bring my shampoo bars when traveling.
It's funny, before B&B I hadn't used a bar of soap for years. Now I have three different hunks of soap in my shower: body bar (right now it's Whole Foods Grapefruit Mint), face bar (Proraso glycerin), and shampoo bar (CV Mud & Clay).

Just tried Dudu-Osun, a black soap from Nigeria. I've been using Liggett's shampoo bar, but on a whim tried the black soap this morning. I think I may prefer it over the Liggett's...I'll keep on using it for a couple of weeks and see how it goes.
We shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, as I trust shall never be put out!
They do. Liggetts Bars. They have one for normal and one for damaged hair. Around 5 bucks a bar. Been using them for about a year, and at this point would not consider using regular shampoo again. Perhaps if I place an order from Mystic or QCS, I'll add in a few bars to ease the shipping but until then Liggetts will work. I also found a nice performing bar at Target in their One Bath and Body display. Try the One Hair Biscuit. Performs good for me.

Where can I find a good shampoo bar to try? I use Pantene Pro V. I'd like a nice manly smelling bar. Something that will smell good. Any suggestions?

Check out Queen Charlottes shampoo bars. They have a few choices when it comes to scent. I absolutely LOVE the peppermint eucalyptus.
Liggetts is my favorite but I use dr Bronners all in one bar the most cause it is easier to find.

Mystic waters shampoo bars smell pretty good. A fresh, spicy, herbal scent. And they perform great!...
Shampoo bar, that a new one to me. Must try it.
I've been going through some samples of Chagrin Valley 'poo bars. I'm currently using the Summer Sunshine. Very nice indeed, citrus/floral/herbal scent and plenty of lather. No sign of build up or issues yet.
Wife and I use Mystic, I think it smells a bit like Anice and Honey, but it isn't a strong and lingering scent. Wife keeps a small trigger spray bottle of pre -mixed vinegar rinse in shower. It works out well.
This is what I have been using on my head recently (switching from Trader Joe's shampoo/condition for the last year). I have been dealing with dandruff for the last few years and after I started using this I noticed I don't have that problem any more. FWIW, it's pretty cheap and I do remember being incredibly happy with the ingredients list (though I tossed the box and can't find the list online ATM). Target carries it.
I'm about done with my first shampoo bar (jr liggetts tee tree) and am a convert as well. After much deliberation, I think I'm going to order a four pack of the QCS bars. My question is, do the different variations really effect performance (aka tea tree doing this and rosemary doing that) or is it really just a difference of smell?
