Default Fixed Equivalent to a Gillette Adjustable on #3?

Hi there, I'm a newbie with what I hope is an easily answered question.

Are there any fixed-position DE razors that essentially deliver the same shaving experience as a Gillette Adjustable set on #3 or #4?

    Thanks!

This is very much a ymmv thing, but I think that the Gillette adjustable's are pretty mild in general. At the 3-4 setting, I would liken it to shaving with my Merkur 34C. Very mild shave but forgiving and generally produces good shaves. I open mine up all the way when I use it, but I find myself loving the aggressiveness of the 2011 R41, so the two are incomparable.

As Michael said this is not that easy to answer. However, for me the Slim at 3 to 4 is similar to a GEM G bar, Gillette Red Tip, and Weber razors.

Here is the blade gap ratings, but remember, there's more to how a razor shaves than just the gap.

I enjoy my slim on setting 2 with sharp blades and on 3 with less sharp ones. But my first razor Merkur 33C is nothing like slim on 3 or 4.I would say 7-8.And as far as i know 33C and 34C have same heads.

I also had this question on my mind actually. To find a razor similar to slim on 2 or 3.I guess this category is the one of the mildest ones right ?

A Slim on 2 or 3 is probably a lot like a Tech or a Blue tip Superspeed. Maybe at 3 more like a regular flare-tip Superspeed.

At 4 the Slim's aggression is similar to an EJ DE87 or a Muhle R89. Probably very similar, also, to a long-comb NEW (although the experience is totally different). A Red tip Superspeed is probably about 4 also, or perhaps 5, especially if it has the "+" designation on the back of the head.

A Slim at 6 or 7 is about like a Joris, IMO.

And maybe some advices on Gillette Slim 2 equivalent razors ?

It really makes difference for me at 3 or 1.I mean 2 is just like my sweet spot.I am wondering especially new products like progress but how are they compared to Slim 2 ?

    Please find me alternatives.

Any Edwin Jagger or Muhle razor with the straight safety bar...de89l etc. have a similar feel in terms of the overall shave though the blade angle is different. Other than that, a vintage Superspeed would be similar.

An EJ DE89L is more aggressive than a Merkur 34C?

+1, though a lot of people like the Nivea aftershave.

daniel87 may be referring to the Nivea cream in the tube (made in Germany) which is quite good and NOT the canned stuff. If it's the canned stuff, then you can do better Daniel.

im talking about the Nivea sensitive cream in a tube. i have tried the mix badger bore brush with the cup and puck but i get as good results with bbs face with the combo. i will never use can again (except on travel if i have to)

would the Jagger de89 be the best possibility for a new fixed razor

i have been a lurker for a year i have had my slim for that long now my technique is about as good as i can so new razor
