    Default Buying feathers in london?

Please, gentlemen, I need your help.

I'm planning to visit London for some days and as blades are not welcome in hand luggage I think I'll buy them locally. I'll stay in a hotel in Mayfair, so I had thought of Truefitt Hill, D. H. Harris (in St. James), TOBS (Jermyn St.) but the question is do any of you know if they sell Feathers? Any other shop would do but as I'll be around that place I'd like to have it at hand!

Your help is as always greatly appreciated!

PS I know, there is some danger in visiting those shops....

Hi I'm in London and the answer to your question is no. But there is a small barbershop near paddington station that I know and that is where I get all my blades from. I work in the Mayfair area too and would be more than happy to show you the shop. When are you over?

Picadilly circus (or just off picadilly) on Jermyn street. I didnt find any feathers, but they had a selection of DE blades at all of the shaving shops. Thats where you'll find Taylor of Old Bond street, Geo F Trumpers, and every other English brand of awesome has setup shops on or just off of Jermyn street... you can even get a straight shave while your there. I bought Wilkinson Sword blades when I was there for a song.

Boots brand are said to be blue Israeli Personna blades, aka crystals. Those are the best I have been able to do for UK retail blades.

Terry, what blades does your barbershop sell? Do you have an address, for the wiki?

If you are there on Good Friday, be aware that it's a public holiday in the UK, so some of the shops may not be open.

Thanks SavtheMan, I know. I'll have to check it up if there are some shops open, if not I'll have to wait until Saturday!!

If I had any Feather blades I would just drop a letter off at your hotel a few days before you arrive... but sadly I don't.
Sorry about that mate. But if you go into a Boots they normally have Wilkinson blades if I remember correctly.
Aside that I don't know if TOBS sell many blades, but I know DR Harris only stocks Merkur blades.

Thank you very much Prof.Moriarty (I like the name!).

In fact I'm thinking about doing the same: sending blades to myself!

That would seem like the easiest option, and sending a padded letter from Spain to here shouldn't cost more than a few Euro's.

It's amazing how difficult is to get your "choice of blade" even in big cities. At least we have the internet!

Hi there sorry I forgot this thread.
The barbers is called Carter and Bond. They stock everything as they have an online store too.
They are over by paddington station but also have a great website. Check them out.

I have never tried them out but the general opinion is not exactly good on them.

    Thanks!

Terry Tibbs suggested Carter and Bond, and according to their online store they carry Feathers
