Default Safety Razor of the Month: March 2012 - Show Us Your Colors (The Super Speeds)

    Happy March, everybody!

Today was a great day for me; I was offered a position at my dream job, the weather was unseasonably beautiful AGAIN, and I'm relaxing right now with a glass of Laphroaig Quarter Cask that my wife bought me as a celebratory gift for my new job. Life is good.

Anyway, I want to keep the good vibes rolling and do a SRotM thread that almost everyone can participate in this month. I think some of you new guys probably get bummed out when you can't show off your razors because the SRotM thread is for, like, Double Rings or Toggles or something. I want to include everyone this month, so let's do the color coded Super Speeds. I'm talking Red Tips, Blue Tips, regular old nickel Flare Tips, and Black Tips. You collectors can still show off by posting the Rocket variations of these razors if you want.

As always, I'll have to get my pics up later. It's night time here and my camera just doesn't cut it with interior night shots.

My favorite Super Speed, the Red Tip, in all three versions: US, British Super Speed style, and British Rocket style.

Yes, beautiful sets there. I didn't even know until now that there was a "regular" British Red Tip. I thought the only British Red Tip was the Rocket.

Wow. I am seriously envious about the Laphroaig. After sitting here stewing in my jealousy for a while I will post my Super Speeds ;)

+1 to scotch envy. But here's a 4th quarter 1955 flair tip I picked up from the local antique store for $8! Cleaned up pretty nice.

Here is my birth razor - a 1970 Q2 Super Speed. It's too mild for regular use but if I need a quick socially acceptable shave with no risk of irritation or blood it's great.

Left to right: X-1 Black Tip (Dad's birth year and quarter), Z-2 Flare Tip (Mom's birth year and quarter), A-4 Red Tip (needs a little cleaning and polishing love).

Love shaving with the Flare Tip, need to try the other two.
