I went there once. I watched 90% of the race on the tv screens in front of the stands, then waited in traffic for 6 hours to drive 5 miles. I love the race (best race on the NASCAR calendar), but if I have to watch 90% of the race on a television screen, I'll do that from my couch.

I think an overlooked aspect is the advances in braking technology (I will defend to the death the notion that you win more races with the brake pedal than the gas pedal), as I feel it allows drivers to take otherwise suicidal chances because they can slow the cars so quickly.
Brakes are as large a part of the equation as the suspension and the aerodynamics. Brake too much and your exit speed will be compromised, brake too little and your exit speed will be compromised at best, at worst you're out in the run-off. The biggest difference between a good driver and a great one is how close to the limit they can take a corner and come out of it. There is some interesting comparisons between Schumi and Herbert in cornering. Schumi was always correcting the cars path with the steering wheel through the corners and Herbert basically turned in and kept the wheel steady. The reason Schumi had to work harder was because the car was at the limit of grip so he had to keep the car from slipping. The link is to the video.

Riccardo Patrese was quite a driver in the early 80's, and is very high on the all time list of F1 starts. Great video- look how calm he is while she's wailing like a banshee.

Some old fart didn't get any that night.

Even during the summer break, Pastor needs to crash an F1 car.

If you asked me for an example of the lowest point of human civilization, I would immediately think of youtube comments.

But I had to laugh when I saw someone posting "Hamilton's fault".

I hurts the team but I doubt Pastor or his sponsors lose a minute of sleep over it.

+1. I'm planning on getting up early and re-watching Monaco from my DVR on sunday. I understand a break but come on! A month?! Ugh...

At last Spa is in sight. Will "The Device" give Kimi the edge he needs? Will MSC rise to the occasion? Can Vettel repeat? What weather is in store?

I'd love to see Lotus bring home a victory or two. Predictions for the rest of the season? I see a fierce battle between Vettel and Hammy to the end, with the courageous and game Alonso tailing off in the second half.

Spa is always good for some exciting racing. I remember Hakkinen overtaking Schumacher and another car in one awesome move a couple of years ago.

Still one of the best overtaking moves ever!

Once DRS is enabled, and they fly through Eau Rouge will surely give us some nice action.

No rain expected though as it is now.

Will the second half of the season be a repeat of the first? I have no idea, but with Button on the pole, it's déjà vu all over again.

This should be more unpredictable than Johnny Rodz.
