Default Greetings fine folks of Badger and Blade!

As most new members of all forums are, I was very unsure of what to put as my first post to a new forum. So Ive decided to go down the introduction route.

Hello there. I'm Andrew but my friends call me "Zeit" (very long story) and at the time of posting I'm 19 and in college studying for my Diploma in IT.
Despite studying IT I like to think of myself as a little old fashioned in my approach to life, I work on pen and paper (because lets face it fellas, computers can break down whereas pen and paper is easier to maintain methinks!), I shave with a cut-throat and believe that you get nowhere without putting the work in.

A little bit about my "shaving career" so to speak.

I was taught the skills of shaving from my Nana (my mother's mother) and my Papa (my father's father).
My Nana taught me the values of a good lather, taking your time and enjoying your shave. she taught me with a cartridge razor she had bought for my birthday, My Papa on the other hand taught me how to handle the straight razor (and with this, the joys of a block of alum for when you suffer a little nick or cut.)
I learned from both of them. Eventually buying my first straight edge razor ( a shavette, and awful cheap one) a year later. And since then it has developed into my shaving habits today.

I also own my Papa Jimmy's (my mother's father) origional 1943 Gillette Service Set. I don't use this however I keep it as more of a nostalgic thing.

Hope you all like my introductions. Any questions just ask and I'll happily answer to the best of my abilities.

    Yours truly.

    Zeit

Welcome aboard! Great start for your "shaving career". It's better to start younger IMHO so you'll avoid yourself years of "error and horror" with disposables!!

I agree wholeheartedly. An earlier start saves having to repent for the sins of shaving with cartridge razors.

As you correctly stated, Zeit means time, which I guess explains why it is a long story

Yeah, I was having a wee bit of a rammy with my current (at the time) girlfriend, who was german, and she started yelling in her native tongue, and of all that germanic yelling. "Zeit" stuck when a friend who was nearby went "ho, Zeit, that would make a good nickname" and it stuck
