Question An AS similar to Ogalla Bay Rum AS?

I love the feeling and the scent I get from OBR's aftershave, but I would like to have a variety of scents (non-bay rum). Are there any other products out there with a similar face feel to them, but a different scent?

Are you looking for something milder with less alcohol? If so, I can recommend Aubrey Organics aftershaves. They leave my face feeling very tight and toned. Today I used their City Rhythms (Cedar/Sandalwood/Bergamot) and North Woods (pine). The wife loves both.

I don't have a lot of experience with aftershaves, so I'm not sure if I'm looking for less alcohol. I just know I love how my face feels after using OBR AS. From what I understand, it just contains witch hazel, alcohol and bay rum oil. Ideally I guess I'm looking for something with roughly the same concentration of WH and alcohol, but with a different scent agent. I love the smell of OBR, but my wife don't much care for it and I like variety.

Now the scents you just mentioned, those sound appealing to me.

Speick AS (herbal lavender scent?) will leave your face feeling great, and Lucky Tiger (orange scent) is pretty good, too. Both have a scent waaayyyy different from bay rum, but as aftershaves, the smell is soon gone. If you want to spend more money (to please the wife, of course), there's a whole world of high-end aftershaves to pick from.

Does Clubman have witch hazel in it? I'm guessing that the witch hazel is a large part of what gives me the affects that OBRAS does.

To be clear, I'm not just looking for a AS recommendation, but a recommendation for an AS that has a similar feel (from similar ingredients I presume) to the OBRAS, but with a different scent.

I think Clubman is a classic scent. For a lighter scent (I use this only in the summer) give 4711 a try.

I know what you mean about the feeling of Ogallala. I don't think it's the witch hazel as much as the oils that are responsible. I cut some strong aftershaves like Aqua Velva 50-50 with WH to lighten the burn and scent but it doesn't make them feel like Ogallala. Have you tried Ogallala's other scents? The Bay Rum & Sandalwood is my favorite Ogallala and my wife and daughter also like that scent the best. I have the Bonanza pack so that gives me 4 scents to choose from plus a cologne.

I have 3 sample bottles that were included when I ordered a shaving soap sampler. I love them all, but for variety's sake, I'm hoping to get the same feeling but without a bay rum scent.

I'm going to try an experiment after my next shave, on half my face I'll use plain witch hazel, and on the other half, OBRAS.

I splash on Dickinson witch hazel after every shave. I like the way it feels. If I use an aftershave, it goes on after the WH air dries.

My wife likes 4711 (and so do I!) and it gives you that cool/burn/sting without being overpowering -- sort of citrus but lighter.

+1 I found this pretty similar to scent of 4711 but milder and kind of healing-- all natural-- comes in plastic bottle but the label is a classic so it looks great in shave den.

From what I can tell by searching online, none of those products contain witch hazel, which I believe is the key ingredient I'm looking for.

Of the AS's suggested, it looks like only Aubrey Organics, Lucky Tiger, and Speick have witch hazel. I'll track those down and give them a try. Thanks!

Speick is wonderful, one of my favs but the scent lasts about 2 minutes. Clubman has no WH but it will make your face feel great. Buy some cheap WH and use it first then any A/S should work for you.

I could certainly do that, and often do, but in this case it's not what I'm looking for. Thanks for trying though.

Why not make some of your own? If its the WH you like so much, pick up some EOs that have qualities and scent you like. Mix well and voila.
