Default Any Okinawan karate folks out there?

Swmbo got me into uechi ryu karate last summer. Really enjoying, but I need to add some additional fitness stuff to my routine...I changed jobs about a year ago and now work three shift rotation. Put on a few getting accustomed tothr new work and rotating, now it's time to get it back off. Any recomendations of what to do solo would be great

Kettlebell training for sure. I've done Kyokushin karate for over 10 years, all be it more of a full contact style alot of the training principals for fitness are the same! Osu!

I've been enjoying the "Rushfit" set of DVDs by Georges St-Pierre (designed by one of his trainers.) That should compliment your karate training nicely.
Be there or be square. Only I can do both!
I've got a cat named Beefeater and a dog named Beefeater, and two goldfish called Beefeater and Beefeater. There's Beefeater my hamster and Beefeater my horse, and my piglet, known as Beefeater of course.

I've done some Uechi-ryu in Okinawa. The traditional dojo style stuff is lots of fun. I agree with a good kettlebell workout. You can also try out something like Crossfit for variety--the website will feed you a workout each day. Good luck!

I'd hit up an MMA gym. I have a black belt in an Okinowan style and I think MMA would be a fun compliment.

KB's are great. You could also do some stick (fighting) work, it can be a lot of fun and very effective. I practice with a shillelagh and a crooked walking cane.

Try a rolled up newspaper. It's easy to stick a couple of rubber bands in your pocket to secure it. Roll it up lengthwise with the loose edges in. Surprisingly effective.

Sharpen the edges and it makes a nice shuriken.

I hear painting fences, waxing cars, and sanding decks is great for Okinawan karate.
