Guitar effect pedal talk

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who enjoys using effects in my guitar/bass playing (and by that I mean only bass). Anyone else out there have some pedals? Got something you've been eyeing?

I would also like to know if you're a member of any other community about the topic. I myself go onto ILoveFuzz.com as well as TalkBass.com. I use TheGearPage only for buying and looking at things I don't need to buy but want to anyway.

I play guitar and have quite a few pedals myself. A few years ago, I was bit obsessed with my rig. Thankfully, my obsession has since subsided. I never joined a guitar forum, but I often visited harmony central and the gear page. I recognize the bosses and the boomerang, but what are the others you have there?

well i have gotten rid of most of my pedals since I quit playing in a band 4 or 5 years ago but I have held on to one for sentimental reasons and it is an original issue MXR Dist+

The top silver box is a Earthquaker Devices Grand Orbiter phaser. The black one on the right is a Korg Pitchblack tuner, orange box next to that is a Black Arts Toneworks Pharaoh Fuzz, purple one is a smallsound/bigsound Team Awesome Fuzzmachine, the small one below the Korg is an Electro-Harmonix Freeze, then a DD-3 next to that, then an EQD Hummingbird tremolo, followed by a TC Electronics Flashback delay. The two boxes in the upper left are a couple of power distributors that I haven't set up yet.

As you can see, I like boutique stuff. Not that any of it is really expensive. I think the most I payed for was my ss/bs TAFM, and that was like $150 new a few years ago. But that's not counting the Boomerang, which is worth every penny.

Cool stuff. I also have a number of boutique pedals: fulltone ocd (version 2 I think) and '69 fuzz (old version - large housing), keeley java boost (really cool pedal), HBE power screamer, and a zvex fuzz factory (lots of fun). In addition to these, I also have an old maxon analog delay. They have all served me well.

Those boomerangs are definitely cool. I've considered springing for one many times. Maybe one day.

I've always loved Boss pedals. They're just so simple, utilitarian...and durable! At one point, I had Boss Xtortion, SuperChorus, and Blues Driver pedals, but over the years the Xtortion was forgotten at a party and the other two I eventually sold.

I now have a Zoom 505 multi-effect, programmable, plastic POS that I thought would be a one-stop-shop for guitar effects. I miss my Bosses...

The only pedals I ever used on my bass was a boss distortion (i think it was called "grunge" or some crap like that) pedal when I was quite young and later a boss TU-II tuner pedal that I quickly replaced with an in-rack tuner when I started playing live frequently outside of my home town. Now my electric bass runs directly into my head and with my upright I use a Fishman BII preamp.

I made my own fuzz pedal, and have purchased the parts to make an MK-II clone with genuine NOS circa 1960s germanium transistors. I am shooting for the kind of sound that Eric Clapton had in his song "White Room." Now if I could only learn to actually play my guitar like Eric does.

Like most guitarists I've gone through a ton of pedals over the years. I miss my Boss Digital Reverb the most. I had an ART dou ble-rack with controller, a few Marshall devices, played with a Zoom (didn't like it) and have settle on a Boss CS-3, Blues Driver and a Marshall Guv'nor pedal, though I'd ideally like 2 Blues Drivers, as the Guv'nor pedal is totally different from the blues driver- too different to be consistent. At the moment (or, when I was home) I had the compressor on quite subtly, with the blues driver on xly melodic break-up, with quite a lot of mid then added the Marshall to get full gain. It works well, but the addition of a 2nd blues driver would basically give me the sound of a top class Fender Twin, with 3 channels. My amp is an H/H 100W 2x12 from the 70s and it's a nice one.

As the world's worst guitarist, effects pedals are completely wasted on me, but I've bought some anyway, mainly because I do computer-based recording and like to go from the effect into the audio interface itself rather than mike an amp. I tend to focus on the "combo units" rather than individual benefits. I recently sold a POD XT, which has some very good models and effects, to upgrade to an Avid Eleven rack, which has the best 'all in one' amps and cabs I've ever heard.

I'm still waiting for my next EAD purchase to arrive--a used Neo Ventilator, which is the most highly rated rotary (Leslie) speaker effect around and is generally used with Hammond B3 clones.

EAD is far worse than RAD--it can banktupt you very quickly!
