Default Strange object found in shavng grooming/vanity set

    Hi there,
I picked up a shaving travel set and found a strange metal clip I was not abled to identity. The set was was not complete but this clip kind catched my interest (after I got the set- which was rubbish altogheter by the way). I just found the clip by accident really.
Can some of you gentlemen enlighten me of itīs use perhaps? Something for the blades or perhaps to protect the two piece bakelite razor (head) that went with the set..? Sorry about the rather poor pics by the way (mobile phone).

Ok, just a guess. It looks to be about an inch and a half or so long and about 10mm(3/8s) or so thick, going by your towel/cloth. If I had to guess, I would say a toothbrush cover. Thats just my gut upon seeing it. I would think a toothbrush head might slide into the open end and stop when it hit the crimped end. As I said, just a guess and it could be for any number of other uses. The only other thing that comes to mind would be for a womans eyelash brush. Good luck!

Thanks for posting. One thing WAS missing in the set. However I think most (every?) toothbrush keeper came as covers (covering the WHOLE toothbrush-handle and all). Besides the brush head would be rather crammed in there I think. The length (and height) seems to fit for blades. My guess itīs purpose was was meant to keep a bunch of unwrapped blades. But for that purpose itīs ever so un-clever..

It looks like a wedge-blade holder, ala Rolls Razor, Wester or Henckles.
Not great pics, but you can see them holding the cased blades here: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...enckels-Rapide

Looks like it could be an old school tube key

Hmm. Well, the set came with a bakelite razor.. Two more crap pics- for what its worth. (Together with a matchbox- for determing the size of it). If itīs not came from the set itīs a guessing game altogheter I pressume.

It sure looks like a holder for the blades fitting into the far spot- but damn- you would sure hafta be careful removing them! WAIT- maybe a holder for a fiver blade holder- to make everything look nice and neat- I bet that's what it is- just a holder for a blade holder for purely cosmetic reasons.

Whatever it is, it's a great candidate for the thread Guess that mysterious item.

At first glance, I thought it was a towel clip (a clip used to keep a shaving towel around your shoulders from sliding off), but can't be certain.

It may be a guard for an open comb razor so it doesn't bend the teeth

I think the tube key is the best guess so far.

It holds like three blades firmly.. I think that was itīs purpose. A few days travel and a couple of blades would set you up for the trip.Click image for larger version.

Did any blades in those days come individually wrapped?

I have some pre-war blades that are wrapped. But I still don't think that's a blade holder.
