Default Reflections on wet shaving, month one

Ok, I just have to say that switching to a de is the best thing I have ever done for my face. My technique is imperfect, my lathering is very inexperienced, I constantly have little things I have to work through and figure out.

That said, I never had any idea how much better shaving could be. My absolute worst experience with my ej, is still tons better than any experience with a cartridge razor. I didn't know that your face wasnt supposed to be red and rubbed raw after shaving.

I shave now, and even if I have a little irritation the rest of my face feels great.
Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously.

Damn right! I switched to DE in my quest to get rid of ingrown hairs, it wasn't precisely a success, as I've gotten 2 fierce ones since I started DE shaving in November, but the experience is amazing. Fortunately I can take my time to prep and shave (no rushing to the office). As Mantic said (at least I heard the term from him first) after my shave I can't stop facestarbating.

Let's keep cutting that facial hair!

I'm almost a month into DE shaving as well. I switched from Gillette Fusion's (conFusion's)... The shave's have been great. The reason I switched was the cost. $45 for 16 cartridges at Sam's Club. Wow. That was expensive. A cartridge would last me 4-6 days. The shave's were poor to moderate.

Now much better... I'm still learning but it's been good from the beginning.

I've been wet shaving for close to 5 years. I still have my old Mach 3....for what reason, I have no idea. One day a few weeks ago I decided to pick up that Mach 3 and shave with it. The thing felt foreign to me. It was like a right-handed man trying to write with his left hand. It was a really weird experience.

To the OP, keep on shaving and perfect your technique. The irritation will subside over time. Have fun with it. Don't let it become the chore it once was. I'm always looking forward to my next shave.

I too have been at DE for about a month now and feel the same way. It is great! However the whole initial point of me starting with DE shaving was to save $...epic fail or win (definately not saving money)?

I love shaving! Even if I'm not saving money, there is no more of using a dull blade for a few extra weeks because you feel bad tossing out a $5 blade after two shaves.
