Default Weird questions: Grinder static and water delivery

Ok, this is kind of weird, but I have two somewhat related questions:

    1. I'm using a Baratza Maestro grinder. I've never had static problems before, now my grinds cling to the cup when I'm pouring it out. Any tips on this?

    2. I'm thinking of getting water delivered to my house. I've been drinking filtered tap water at home, but I want better tasting water and coffee. What do you guys think of home delivery? Is it at all cheaper than buying at the store? Sparklets or Ozarka? What should I look for in a cooler?

It's plastic. Ground strap? How would that work, what would I attach it to?

It could be moisture rather than static, which is probably more likely

Freakily, that started happening to me today out of the blue. Glass jar receptacle. I think it's the Van Allen Belts.

Happens to me with my Rocky if I let the grind pour to far. Since I started using a CCD with paper filter, it stands taller and the grind pours more directly into the cone. If that makes any sense.

I can't comment on cost for home delivered water, but in Santa Cruz I always filled up 5 gallon bottles at water stores. The municipal water in Santa Cruz smelled like pool water and was pretty hard too. If I had to do it now, I would go for home delivery, although I am certain filling up your own bottles is cheaper.

Try rubbing a bamboo chopstick around the inside of the bin before grinding. I have heard that works with the plastic bins, although it really didn't help with my glass bin so who knows.

When the machine first came out, there were complaints about static in the bin. Baratza responded by coating the bin with something anti-static. If you've washed yours too often, the coating may have come off. Order a replacement.

My water's pretty good here, but in a previous location, I'd often make coffee from spring water. It was much better. After all, coffee is something like 99% water. Go for it.

The glass jar looks to be the best idea. This time of year, static is going to be worse due to the extreme dry air. A humidifier might help, but if you can get another bin from Baratza (hadn't heard about the anti-static coating), that would be ideal. As for home delivered water; if it tastes good from the tap, it will make good coffee. If you've any doubts, you can run some through your coffee maker, refrigerate it, and then taste it. If it tastes good, you're good to go. If you live somewhere that has very hard water, or just gross tasting water, those five gallon jugs from Culligan would be the most cost effective way to go.
