I just registered for an account to see the pictures.

Oh mama, that is one beautiful looking stone. Thanks for sharing, Jim.

EDIT: And now that I have an account I can also see the picture Jim linked.

Can someone just copy the picture here?

I've heard and read about honing on jade. It is more likely to be Nepherite jade than jadeite, but I would like to see.

IMO, jade does not have the properties needed to make a good hone.

I copied the text from the forum
This is something extremely rare and beautiful. I have searched for years around the world and was always one rumor away from finding it. Once every four or five years I would see a photo or read and article with a little tiny mention of it, never any details.a few months ago I finally got in contact with a guy who knew a guy who was sleeping with some other guys sister........... and so forth, who owned a mine in a country formerly known as b???a. We corresponded and after working out some trades and creative financing, they cut me a custom made stone out of solid jadeite. It came while I was in the hospital and nobody told me about it. I found it today sitting on the floor with a bunch of boxes ready to go out to the garbage.I opened it and thought I might have another heart attack it is beautiful. I haven;t used it yet and probably won't. It is a nice mottled green, matt finish estimate 10k-12k if you can measure that. 200mmx 50mmx 25 mm. Here is the kicker, I am going to have to sell her to pay for my meds. Deep sigh! $450 shipped. You probably will never find one in your lifetime and neither will I. Deep sigh well here you go, new never used.

Jadeite has a Mos hardness of about 7, so good luck lapping that. Pass.

Not ebay - I found the stone there but I sourced a better price from a non-auction source. However - that person I was dealing with became difficult - I would have bought it if they would have had better communication skills.
I still want the darn thing too.. it's been off my radar for a while... seeing it now just got me juiced again....
I belive that stone is Beryl.
That stone costs $250, and you can buy one right now on feepay. Item #120813639969
I don't think it's worth 250.... that's the issue, I had a much better price offered to me... roughly half that. I lost track of the details a while ago.

Come on Paco you know you want it. Think of the good you could do telling us about your findings with such a beauty. I'm not sure if I'm in dog house over the Welsh invasion so I cannot take any chances. I have looked for it in past without any luck just because it is such a beautiful rock, stone hone, semiprecious material or whatever one wants to call it.
