Default How oftern do you venture out of your comfort zone?

All of the razors I have are on the mild side. My favorites are the Featrher AS-1, the Muhle R101, and the Muhle D89. I also have a couple of Chatsworth EJ razors. Should I experiment with a more agressive razor sometime?

Do you venture out of your comfort zone bt trying new shaving products?

IMO, that's really up to you. If you are happy with your shaves, there's no need to change anything.

OTOH, if you're curious, go for it.

As for me, I'm still pretty new to this whole thing, so I'm not even sure I have a comfort zone, yet. :)

I think all of those listed are long handled razors. Pick up something with a short handle, like a Super Speed (maybe a Red Tip) or a Fat Boy. Who knows, it could change your enjoyment level. I started off with a Sledgehammer and now much prefer the short stuff.

I am going to try to switch over to straights once they arrive. So I guess I shave outside my comfort zone?

Since I switched to straights, every against-the-grain pass has been out of my comfort zone, and I'm loving it.

I always think I'm in that zone. Until a bit later when I'll notice a bit of irritation. It doesn't happen often, but when it does I realize I got out of the zone. Sometimes, against my better judgement, I'll push for that BBS. Even when I know that its not necessary.

I'm still using my first and only razor (Merkur HD). I think it's a mild razor right? I got it because it's recommended often for newbies. What is a good step up from a Merkur HD as someone's second razor?

Every day. I had become VERY comfortable with my daily use DE, but just started trying to learn the straight shave this week. Like Gash, I am loving it! I'm not that far along yet, so I am out of my comfort zone about the time I start stropping.
