I just used my SS nonfolding after a month of exclusive kamisori...lots of weepers lol. Takes me a shave or two to get back the "no pressure" touch. I usually bleed after the upper lip ATG as regulating pressure on the upstroke is hard for me.

I've never been able to go ATG with DEs or SEs, so there's no way i'm ever going to try it with my SS or Kai!

You should try! The super sharp blade coupled with the ability to adjust angle and pressure on the fly may surprise you. If you reduce your beard properly, you will barely feel anything as you go ATG. YMMV of course, but you cannot compare a
DE/SE shave to a straight IMO.

Did the Cobra shave seem relatively easy and stressless?

Yes it was---I am enjoying the feather but the cobra is a great quick backup to have available

I can't wait until my shave tomorrow morning.

if you think the SS feels sharp, the DX felt sharper... and I agree the cobra is relaxing change... made me smile when a slant felt even more easy with a feather blade...

Changed the blade out for a Kai Mild.Did my usual 3 passes and had a couple of weepers I guess to the new blade.Nothing cold
water didn't take care of. My cheeks were BBS and my neck and chin were DFS except right under the chin by the jaw. There and my lip are still a work in progress. If I go under my lip too much I bleed and I have a hard time wiyh that mole on my chin.Tomorrow my non-folding Kai will be here(its here now but P.O is closed.Looking foward to it and comparing it to the folding SS

My Kai Captain non folding razor came from RBM today.I couldn't wait to use it.I did my normal 3 pass shave which has been getting progressivly closer and smoother with less blood every shave---NOT SO TODAY---I had a barely SAS shave with 3 weepers--I guess I have to get used to this new razor and figure it out---Will try again tomorrow

Last night I put a new Kai mild blade in my new Kai razor and got a terrible shave as it felt the razor wasn't even cutting.Figuring it might be the blade, tonight I put a new feather-pro in it and it worked great--I had a nice, close shave--Must have been a dull blade--I still am getting a few weepers and minor cuts but I have had no irritation at all in the last 3-4 shaves
Exciting times I am having but still have a long way to go--Cheeks and neck are getting to BBS but the chin and lips are still a long way off from being decent

I used to dip the Feather SS (blade only) in a jar of 70% alcohol after each shave to prevent oxidation. I think it helps. I got more than 12 shaves with the Kai blade.

I started collecting these razors in November last. I currently have an SS lolding, SS Japanese style, RG, and a Kai Captain Excelia. I have used Feather Pros, Super Pros, and Kai Titan Milds. I find the SS razors to be the easiest to use, and the Feather blades to be much smoother. After an initial break in period I now get BBS almost every shave. I have never used a DX but can't imagine things getting any better than my current shaves with the SS razors. I can get the same results with the Excelia and the the RG.....but only with a lot more care. For me the Kai Mild blades tug too much. Of course YMMV....but for me the killer combination is the SS with a Feather blade.

I used the folding feather tonite--I am much more confident with the razors now and it is showing in my shaves. My cheeks I can now get BBS on every shave and my neck is a little behind but not bad at all.Tonite was the closest I have gotten my lip and chin as I realized attacking them from different angles and using a gillotine motion works.THIS IS FUN

This shave was close and smooth--The neck is getting better with each shave as are the lip and chin area---The chin is getting close to SAS with the lip a little behind. My cheeks I get BBS with 2 passes every shave now--Progress is being made--Right now I am liking the non-folding a bit more than the folding as the with the Kai I am able to pinpoint exactly where I want the blade to go

I think I have the opposite set-up to you. My Kai is folding and the Feather non-folding, but if I had to choose one, I'd have to say I prefer the non-folding too!

Yesterday,I sold the Feather SS on the B/S/T as I decided I much preferred the non-folding style.I then ordered the Feather AS DX non-folding from the italian barber. I also ordered the super-pro blades for comparision.

    SHAVE 15&16
    KAI NON-FOLDING
    FEATHER PRO(4&5)

Both shaves were bloodless and irritation free.I did my usual 3 passes with a variety of angles.I think I have the pressure and angle of this razor figured out.Cheeks were BBS and the neck was close to it. The lip and chin are getting much better.
P.S.--I guess I need to change the title to this thread--
