    Default Exceeded Bandwidth

I tried logging on today, 5/26 2pm-5pm Central time, and got a response saying bandwidth has been exceeded. Does this mean there were too many people on the site at once? How often does this happen?

Nope... it means we exceeded our servers pre-set monthly bandwidth - so we upgraded our account..... you wouldn't believe how many gig's this site uses a day!

To expound upon Joel's explanation: When we recently switched servers (also due to B&B's rate of growth), we had to estimate what we thought our usage would be and budget for the bandwidth accordingly. Our estimate was (surprisingly to us) low, as B&B's bandwidth usage has been increasing at a higher rate than we anticipated.

Long story short, as you can see, that's all just an unpleasant memory now.

    So much for the Xenons*....

*I assume we are not using the computing power of noble gas, so I would presume you mean Xeon's.

I have a question for the moderators: Is there any cost (aside from your time) to running this site? If so, who is paying?

    Just wondering....

Yes - there is a considerable cost (all of the forum software, add ons, plug-ins, etc - and a new auction system soon to come, etc) Nick and I pay all the costs associated with B&B, however DVD proceeds and such go to google ads and what not, as well as additional forum software (paid for part of the review system) etc.

My hat's off to both of you, then.

Well, actually, I don't wear a hat, but if I did I would doff it to you both.
