    Default Converted Another Pipe Smoker

I've had the good fortune to spend the last few days with my son, who is recovering from wounds recieved in Afghanistan. He's a cigar smoker, in fact he got me smoking them again, but I brought out some of my pipes for him to try. We stopped by the local tobaccanist for a couple of samples of good tobacco. My son's first attempt was much like mine, not well packed and difficult to keep lit, but his second bowl went really well. He was so excited about pipes that we spent Saturday looking at antique shops. We didn't find any pipes worth buying, but he did end up with a pipe stand/humidor combo and a pipe tool. Neither of us plan to give up cigars, but pipes are a lot of fun.

Now if I could just get him to join the B&B (he's also a wet shaver).

    Best regards,

    Andrew

OUTSTANDING! Thank him for his service from the gang at B&B, will ya? I too, started with cigars and have moved into pipes as well- cigars are still numero uno.
God loves you so much, that he made you read this, just to let you know.

Nice job OMA! Absolutely thank him for us, and thanks to yourself as well. I hope his recovery is going good, and continues to do so.

Thanks for all the nice response. I hope each of you get the chance to bond with a son or nephew over a cigar or pipe; it's the greatest feeling in the world.

We tried some Mac Baren black cavandish and an unknown brand of bulk gold cavandish from a local tobaccanist. I made the mistake of buying some Borkum Rif for my initial foray into pipe smoking, it really had a lot of bite and was not a pleasant smoke. Didn't have that problem with either of the previously mentioned tobacco.

I wish your son a speedy recovery, he looks very young in the photos, pipe smoking is a great relaxing and meditative hobby, I don't want to sound like a broken record but I appreciate what he has done, he is a very brave and honorable young man.
