  1. Default Lather with erasmic soap

Have been DE shaving for a few weeks now and absolutely love it. Up until 2 shaves ago I was using TOBS sandalwood cream but then bought a tub of erasmic soap. First shave went well but then last night I just couldn't get a good lather. First it was too dry then too thin. With the cream I've never not got a good lather.
Many advice on how to build a good lather using soap? I usually face lather. Should I lather in bowl or mug? Thanks in advance

I love the Erasmic Glycerine soap...In fact i am swaying back away from the excellent Proraso and using Erasmic more and more, it just batters my stubble!
i use a small soup type bowl and a boar type brush, make a puddle on the soap surface, fill the soupbowl with hot water, leave the brush in the hot water and get in the shower... when i'm out, i flick dry the brush, hold the soap bowl/puckholder upside down and swirl the brush into it for a long time until the bubbles are really small and the 'fluffy' cream looks like it could float away from the sides.. then i gather it all into the brush, go back to my proper lather bowl and crack on , adding just a drop or two of water until i literally have lather spilling all over the shower room.
I live in a hard water area (London) so this took a while getting used to how much soap to preload into the brush, and how much added water to use... when i was a beginner, I had rubbish results trying to lather straight of the soap surface.
In the end i did a science experiment one afternoon with my little girl to see if we could figure out the correct consistency - loads of fun!

Try more product aka load your brush for a longer period. It sounds to me this would be the issue.

The Erasmic Supreme stick is excellent, but the standard Erasmic stick is REALLY hopeless!!

that's weird, because they have discontinued the supreme stick, from what members are saying. Some markets in the UK are closing them out for one euro !!

I have hard water (in South Florida), but have always had excellent results face lathering with the Erasmic tub soap (but sadly, not with the "Enriched Lather" stick, which Connaught and others currently sell and which I mistakenly thought was the "Supreme" stick. I've yet to see the Supreme stick for non-UK sale). While shavers have success with drier as well as wetter brush approaches to lathering, I myself use a wetter, modified "Marco's method" (see the threads) approach. For Erasmic and other glycerin soaps, I give my thoroughly wet (Men-u Premier synthetic) brush three gentle downward pumps (but this depends on your specific brush and water), gently load the brush tips for 10 or so seconds and then more quickly swirl the brush for another 30 seconds or so. I use gentle painter strokes at first to apply the very wet/bubbly lather to my face, then as a stable lather emerges I use standard circular strokes for a couple of minutes more, dipping the brush tips in water as required. I enjoy the Erasmic tub soap as much or more than many "fancier" soaps.

Rats! I picked up 3 recently in the UK (got one, tried it, worked great, bought 2 more) I would have cleared the shelves if I'd known it was being discontinued.

IMO the erasmic bowl is trash and I cannot get it to lather well and it isn't slick. I can get soaps such as Scottish Fine soaps to lather which others struggle with.

If you can get the erasmic tallow stick that is far better.

There are far better soaps out there.

Re Erasmic Supreme - I checked in Home Bargains this week and no erasmic supreme left anywhere. Someone reported seeing them on a market stall in Harrogate in May at 2 for £1.
