Default Scuttle or shaving bowl for use with large brushes

I've been bowl lathering for the past few weeks (in place face latering, as I've been doing a lot of uberlathering) and have been using a smooth bowl.
Pics of various scuttles and ceramic shaving bowls look appealing due to the ridges, which I would assume be better than a smooth-sided bowl.

My main brushes are a Simpson Chubby 2 Best, Polo 8 Super 2-band and a Thater Plexi 4 (32mm knot, 58mm loft).

Is a scuttle like a Dirty Bird 1.5 or Georgetown G5 large enough for these brushes?

the DB 1.5 is big enough for ANY brush. not sure on the G5, as i don't own that one.

and yes, the lather ridges work wonders for making lather.

I can't answer from first hand experience, but the Dirty Bird 1.5 looks big enough from the measurements. Have you looked at this site by the way?

The DB 1.5 is the best all around scuttle IMHO.

Any size brush will work well in it.

The fudge marble scuttle (robertsfeatsofclay) looks nice. Significantly less than the dirtybird, though I believe in getting what I pay for (how many times did I end up getting the more expensive xxxxxx
after first buying and being dissatisfied with the cheaper option).

Does anyone have pics of their robertsfeatsofclay scuttles? Hard to imagine what other colors look like.

Here is a pic of the G5 and my 001 (large) Robert Becker.

The G5 is 3 1/2" across by 2 1/4" deep. Holds 3/4 cup of water
The Becker 001 (large) is 5 1/2" across by 2 1/2" deep. Holds 4 cups water
The world market is 3 1/8" across by 3 1/8" deep. Holds 3/4 cup water

Weird. I have this in Hamada (G5 as well) and just measured mine. It's 4 inches across in the same method that you measured, but the exact depth as your's. The website says the inner bowl is supposed to be 4.5 inches. In both cases mine and your's is significantly smaller than their specs on the website.

I know... I was totally shocked to find that the one I got was almost a full inch narrower than what they said it was.

The Becker I have is too big at 5 1/2 across so thought I had it right with a G5 at 4 3/4. Was feeling like I found what I was looking for. But then it is UNDER 3 1/2

SO....... I am still looking for a scuttle after buying several

I'll have to go home and mesure mine. Also remember there is the lip at the top of the opening. I wonder if the spec messurments are from the top or bottom of that lip?

I understand that these are hand made and not going to all be identical, but there should not be over an inch variation between them.

my DB1.5 is a bit of an oddity as well. it's got the depth of the original and width of the 1.5 .....OR SO I THOUGHT!

when i 1st got it, i thought the ORIGINAL was 3.5" x 2" opening and the 1.5 was 4.5" x 3" opening....but now i see on the DB site, they are both 2" depth. was it always that way, as i could have sworn the DB original and DB 1.5 had different bowl depths

here are few shots of mine

My Robert Becker scuttle is perfect for making Uberlather. It is just the right size, IMO. Click image for larger version.
