Thumbs up Out with new & in with the old

Well gentlemen for 2 months my shaves are done with vintage razors exclusively & the EJ89 & Slant
now reside in a drawer. (RIP)

    My new rotation:
    Schick Krona
    British Rocket
    Black Handled SS

I don't know the science behind it, but the vintage razors deliver a far superior shave (for me, anyways).

Have you picked a special favorite from among those?

I'm partial to the Rocket for daily use. The black & the Krona are slightly more aggressive & are appropriate
for the weekend growth. YMMV of course.

I just started experimenting with shaving with the vintage types. Tried a 1912 GEM which was very comfortable. But it's cousin, the GEM G Bar destroyed my face. Too aggressive. Will be trying a 1956 Red Tip and a (1930's?) star razor next.
The other day when the GEM hacked me up after pass #2, I finished up with my Muhle R89. Forgot how comfortable that razor was.

So I'm not the only one. I've only tried the GEM blades from CVS
& I'm wondering if it's the razor or the blade?

I am not sure if the CVS Gems are coated or not? But here's an interesting stat... The Gem G Bar is listed at being 0.00024 blade gap and the Gillette 1954-1968 SS are listed as 0.00023. But the SS gives me (so far) the best and most comfortable shave whereas the G Bar destroys me. I paid particularly close attention to blade angle also. I had the top plate against my face then did a slight angle adjustment.

I started with vintage razors and I stayed there. I have never purchased or used a modern razor. I hope I am not missing out.

Nice. Though, technically, you went out with the older new and in with the newer old. If you want to go all the way to the old DE's you may have to go three piece, pre TTO, like the Old or the New or New Improved.

If you read that and think that it makes no sense........... it does
Razors don't shave people. People shave people!

There are three critical types of moments in life: Times when we should use opportunity to be enamoured with finer details, and times we should ignore the minutia.

You're right on that one. A member loaned me some Gillette 3 piece razors
to try out & I found them much too aggressive.
