I was thinking about getting the AOS full kit w/ silvertip brush as i have a $25 off coupon. Is their silvertip brush worth a crap or should i just get their products piece by piece?
Thanks in advance.

I got the $55 badger in my kit and its fine... not great, just fine. I have heard good things about the silvertip but haven't used it myself, but I think a good chunk of the extra money is paying for the fancy store, and not the quality of the brush. I find myself reaching for my $15 EJ boar more often...
When I first started wet shaving I purchased the AOS Fine. I still use it in my rotation and it is a good brush. With the $25 coupon it may be worth the purchase. But, Rooney and Morris and Forndran make better brushes.
It works out at roughly 95 dollars for the brush if your getting the kit for 175. So for 95 if its a decent silver tip it is a good deal IMO.

Generally AoS brushes are marked up about 100% - you can find almost the exact same brush out there for much less money.
Just call me Chris.
In the kit its a good brush. I got the fine badger with my kit and it's great, same $25 off coupon. Go for the ocean kelp kit if you haven't decided on a scent yet.
i'm currently loving my Omega 636 silvertip that cost $45 new. a bit smaller handle than my AOS Pure Badger that came with my sandalwood full-size kit from them, but not uncomfortable and so far a great performer. there's a larger version for $70ish, too (the 637). and yeah, personally i wouldn't buy a brush or razor from AOS due to the amount that they're marked up.
GRAIN OF SALT: "silvertip" is not a standardized term, so AOS's silvertip may be different than Omega's silvertip.

I have the AOS silvertip. I think it is a very nice brush. I'm still pretty new and have never used another silvertip, so I really don't have anything to compare it to. It is very dense and soft, and has never shed any hairs. To answer your question specifically, it is definitely "worth a crap." I think it is a nice brush for creams, but I prefer my black badger brush because it has better flow through. Keep in mind that just because it's silvertip, which is very soft and expensive, doesn't necessarily mean it's the best.
My understanding is that AOS doesn't make their own brushes and that currently the brushes are produced by Muehle. I think it is pretty safe to say that you could get the same brush, a comparable brush, or even a better brush for less money. With AOS, it seems that their software, particularly their soaps are very well regarded, but their hardware is considered overpriced.
